Description

This very popular kit from Harcostar contains a water butt that can hold 350 litres which is the largest of all in this review. It also includes a raintrap diverter and stand. Round and wide is getting a bit boring but can still look good. The sensible well built Charles Bentley round water buttis an example that classic can still fit into a modern setup. Does it come with a stand and water downpipe diverter kit? Putting in a water diverter involves cutting through the downpipe of the guttering. In most cases, these pipes are plastic and the job isn’t too difficult. However, be aware that if you have metal pipes, the job will be more complicated. An included stand – not all water butts come with a stand, but most of the time you’ll find that one is necessary. Unless the water butt is very large and rigid, a stand should be used to protect the tank and help it stay upright. Another reason why a stand is so important is that it makes it possible to fit a watering can underneath the tap. Without a stand, the tap will generally be too close to the floor. Well, Sankey have thought about this problem and have come up with a solution- the Beehive water butt.
As the name implies, this model is shaped like a beehive and looks so much more natural and pleasing to the eye than what is usually on offer.
Made from 100 percent recycled materials but styled to look like a ceramic construction, this water butt will look great in any garden. It is also shatter proof and resistant to UV damage.
It stands 77 (height) by 60 cm diameter at it’s wide point and weighs 4 Kg when empty.

It’s easy to see why this water butt appeals to such a wide range of people. It’s sleek enough to sit inconspicuously in the corner of small gardens, yet it’s also slim enough to be lined up in a row of connected water butts to contribute to a larger water storage system. It’s one of the best water butts if you’re after a slimline design. Fit the rubberised splash seal to the top section of pipe, then connect the diverter between the two sections. Make sure that the outlet hole is at the bottom. Then pull the splash seal down over the join. The other is uneven ground resulting in the water reaching the edge, but still a result of the height of the diverter kit. Thanks to its beehive design, it certainly looks impressive, but how does it compare to the more traditional designs out there? I put this water butt to the test to find out.

Wall-Mounted Water Butts: Ideal for small gardens or patios, these water butts are designed to be attached to a wall, saving valuable floor space. They can be slim and compact while still providing substantial water storage. Water butts come in a variety of types, designed to suit different garden styles, sizes, and homeowner needs.A few hours after setting up this water butt, I was rewarded with a night of heavy rain, so I was able to put it to use the very next day. This, in turn, makes them great for sustainable water supply. “With climate change, certainly, in the South, we have a water storage and supply issue so everyone needs to club together to be more aware of sensible water usage,” adds Raven and Lewis. As such, water butts are a great way to take advantage of the wet weather when we eventually get some much-needed rainfall. This water butt has sold many more than the Rainsaver online and there’s some other good reasons apart from price. Firstly, Strata is a well known and reliable brand for water storage – they make a super larger square water butt too: the Strata pro Ward 250L Slimline Water Buttwhich is also top rated. It matches the slimline Rainsaver on width too at 35cm wide and 95cm tall. The weight is almost identical and so is the look:
