Police Are Useless: Averted. Marasi and Wayne get into a shootout at a graveyard in the middle of the city, complete with someone throwing dynamite at them. The constables are alerted to the disturbance and arrest the perpetrators. Wayne is filled with hatred for the world as Wax dies. Wax was the only one who believed in him. He grabs Wax's shotgun and wills his hands to stop shaking. The new Mistborn books move the series into a richly imagined 19th century analogue world with elements of the wild west mixed with magic and science. It's a wonderful concoction from a master storyteller.

Kandra also don't deal well with acid. Learning that there was an acid trap in the temple to deal with people like her who intentionally charged in setting off every trap because they could survive more conventional bodily trauma, and that the only reason she didn't fall victim to it was because it had frozen in the cold, causes her to go uncharacteristically silent for a while as she contemplates what could have been a most unamusing fatality. Please note that I’m not offering to do anything you wish. In fact, you’re still rather limited in this tier. This is essentially restricted to a few interactions: Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. Why Are You Looking at Me Like That?: When the Bands are discovered to have been stolen, everyone stares suspiciously at Wayne out of habit, even though there is no way he could have gotten there before them. He did steal the Bands earlier, just not from that room and not knowing they were the Bands.

Wax and Steris attend a political party hosted by some shady people. Planning on Wax's usual event-filled life, and anticipating he wouldn't be allowed to take his guns in, she tapes a spare to her leg. And adds extra layers of clothing to prevent embarrassment when he needs to retrieve it. At the same party, she also carries a mixture to induce vomiting, in case someone wanted to poison them. Turns out, it has other uses as well. Kill the Ones You Love: Discussed. When they finally talk, Wax rages over Harmony's manipulations that forced him to kill Lessie a second time. Harmony bluntly turns it around on him, noting Wax's hatred is also self-hatred. Wax knows, and finally admits, that with how far gone Bleeder was, even knowing Bleeder was Lessie, he would still have tried to take her out. Harmony in turn admits he hid Bleeder's identity to save Wax the pain of that crisis, of having to shoot her, or failing to, knowing she was mad and suffering. At one point, MeLaan disguises herself as a muscular, handsome man, while wearing a metal skeleton under her flesh. Man Behind the Man: Wax's sister Telsin is not a hostage, but a member of the Set, and outranks Suit. Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.

Marasi Colms: A constable who reports directly to Governor Claude Aradel. She is Steris' illegitimate half-sister, and has worked frequently with Wax and Wayne in the past. She is a Pulser, an Allomancer that can slow down time within a bubble. He perched on the water tower, looming over the church. So he was here, finally. He felt his eye begin to twitch, and an ache rose within him.Karma Houdini Warranty: Karma finally catches up with Suit in his jail cell when the mysterious power behind the Set decide he has served well, and he will be allowed to serve further in another Realm. Waxillium "Wax" Ladrian: The head of House Ladrian and a special constable and detective, Wax was once a lawman of the roughs. He is a Twinborn with the Allomantic ability to Push metals and the Feruchemical ability to increase or decrease his weight. Wax has been emotionally closed off and enraged at Harmony following the events in Shadows of Self.

Tor Acquires Two More Mistborn Novels from Brandon Sanderson". Tor.com. October 29, 2013 . Retrieved July 13, 2014. When Wayne and Marasi discuss Wax and Steris's marriage, Wayne encourages Marasi to be like the Ascendant Warrior and fight for his love. Marasi points out that the Ascendant Warrior killed the Last Emperor's fiance first, and asks if Wayne wants her to kill her own sister. Indeed, Wax's sister tries to kill him, Wayne almost kills her, and Wax wants her dead as well. Exact Words: Allik tells the crew that before he arrived to the south, the Sovereign was a king, then a god. When Wax tells him the Lord Ruler died, he replies that the Sovereign told that too. He never says those two were the same person.

OR: Say “Signed, Lined, Dated.” I’ll write no name in this, but will still write the quote, and will date it. Steel at a comfortable burn inside his stomach, he shoved on a nearby electric streetlight—still shining, though morning had arrived—and soared higher into the air. Elendel spread before him, a soot-stained marvel of a city, leaking smoke from a hundred thousand different homes and factories. Wax shoved off the steel frame of a half-finished building nearby, then sent himself in a series of leaping bounds across the Fourth Octant. Wayne hunts down Telsin and shoots her multiple times to avenge his friend's death, retrieving both MeLaan's and ReLuur's spikes. He restores MeLaan and lets Telsin escape.
