What was the motivation for killing the husband? he was cheating on her? nope because she convinced the other woman to go pursue her own husband and only decided to kill them when Pam wanted to break it off... no her husband just wasn't paying enough attention to her.

Truthfully, I don't think murder is necessarily as bad as people make it out to be. Everyone dies. What difference does it make if a few bad apples get pushed along a little sooner than God intended? And your wife, for example, seems like the kind worth killing." This book was all about an intensely suspenseful plot that brought so many twists I felt I had done a workout by the end of the book. Gripping, thrilling and spine tingling. The characterisation was also great with Lily being my favourite heroine and predator. Was there any way to continue the story without retconning the ending (because construction not having got to the well, and Kimball forgiving Lilly and covering up her crime was the stupidest thing I ever read- I get he's a creepy/stalker/ insta love character but not follow through with the consequences to the previous book felt insulting. Ted meets a mysterious woman at the airport and, thinking he would never see her again, spills all his secrets to her right then and there. He confides that his wife Miranda is cheating on him, and that he secretly wishes he could kill both her and her lover to teach them a lesson. Once Ted and the woman arrive at their destination, they part ways, but that turns out to be only the beginning. One thing I disagreed with Mr Swanson on was his comment, attributed to Lily's father, that 'Agatha Christie is all imagination and a terrible observer.' My question is this: that if this is indeed true, how did she write the characters of Jane Marple and Hercule Poirot, both of whom are great observers.

Ted wasn’t sure what he was going to do until on a plane flight home he met The Lily Kintner. Maybe it is because she is beautiful and receptive to him, or maybe it is just because he has to tell someone and usually a stranger is much easier to spill your guts to than a friend. She doesn’t react the way he expects. In fact, she tells him that his wife sounds like the kind worth killing. In this story, we meet Joan Grieves/Whalen, who was a former student of Henry Kimball when he taught English classes at the local high school. Henry Kimball is now a Private Investigator working at his own office due to circumstances that happened in book #1. Joan approaches Henry, because she thinks that her husband, Richard is cheating on her, and she would like Henry to follow him and confirm her suspicions. In a tantalizing set-up reminiscent of Patricia Highsmith’s classic Strangers on a Train… On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that’s going stale and his wife Miranda, who he’s sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start—he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit—a contrast that once inflamed their passion, but has now become a cliché.

Everyone dies. What difference does it make if a few bad apples get pushed along a little sooner than God intended? And your wife, for example, seems like the kind worth killing.” Why did Joan google Richards name randomly even though they spent years never interacting and that being how she learned about the bombing....instead of hearing about it on the news or from a neighbour??? because you know it's a bombing in her local area. people are going to talk about that. The story is told in two time lines. The earlier covers the time when Liana and George first got together, in college, and George’s attempt to find out what was really going on with his gf of a semester when she takes a powder. This includes learning about Liana’s life in her Florida home. The latter, and larger stream is contemporary, and includes a crooked ex boyfriend from whom Liana snatched half a mill, an impressively violent enforcer sort, George’s on-again-off-again gf, a mysterious house well off the beaten path, and a payload of diamonds. Before She Knew Him has a Rear-Window like quality with oddball characters and some huge twists. This is an intriguing psychological thriller about the very strange friendship of two neighbors. All characters are screwed up. In the whole reading time, I was thinking about who I hate the most. Hen made me really angry and her husband drove me crazy. I don't like it, at all. This is the reason why I gave it "just" 3,5 stars. But the good news is they ignited strong emotions inside me.

A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy.

Need Help?

This is a book that prides itself on the turns the plot takes. But for their preponderance, none of them are surprising. A character who has been very clever for years makes many stupid mistakes. None of the plotting between characters is smart. None of the investigating is smart. All of the mistakes made could have been avoided. Poor work bending everything to serve the plot. With numerous twists and welcome surprises to keep you at the edge of your seat. The story is about murder, revenge, and duplicitous characters. When I read Peter Swanson's book, The Kind Worth Killing, I was completely blown away. I was hooked almost instantly and knew that this was only the beginning. Have you ever read an Author and thought "why have I never read a book by him/her before?" and "when I can get my hands on another of his/her books?" Well, I just got my chance!!!!!!!!! So what makes someone the kind worth killing? Swanson enjoys himself testing us on the question. How about a lascivious, drooling paedophile with designs on an under-age girl, the daughter of bohemian friends who he is staying with for the summer? As this is fiction, we may allow ourselves to give the Roman thumbs down on this one. Those who enjoy books about serial killers will most likely enjoy this book. Unfortunately, I think this will be the last book that I will read about this topic.
