Well, I definitely hadn’t been an academic. But I was pretty sure that in buying this place, I wasn’t supposed to have been sent off to land in a field. Something had gone wrong. Near the fire, Lord Ealstan and a tall woman—I assumed his wife—were speaking with the two messengers. They were facing him, but I could see them from the side, in profile. All right, that was uncanny. I was sure I’d seen those dishes full. So how had the contents vanished? I scanned the courtyard, and though it seemed empty, those shadows could hide plenty. As I’d proven. By, uh, getting caught.

I thought I heard a river somewhere in the near distance, and there was a large lump of darkness further on. Maybe a much larger building? I skirted the village, and on the other side, found the river—well, the stream. Here, I knelt and scooped up some water to drink. I figured my medical nanites would neutralize any bacteria before it gave me too much trouble. April 1, 2023: Let’s do this! I’m psyched! Later that day: All the stars. I couldn't put it down. As the title already promises, this magical sci fi was hilarious! It’s Jason Bourne interdimensionally traveling from an advanced world to a medieval one. “Californication … bromance, vlog, podcast.” You’ll get it once you get there…. “Or I shall Nintendo you!” We spend all our time pouring through the dimensions, selecting only the most favorable for Wizard inhabitation. Act now, before the good dimensions are all claimed, and you are left without 2!The Rithmatist · Dark One Book 1 · The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England · Firstborn · Snapshot · Perfect State · The Original She shook her head at my apparent foolishness. “I’ll get them for you—honestly, I wasn’t sure what to do with them. Burning them would draw Logna’s ire for certain, but merely having them will draw Woden’s. So just take them. And carry the wyrd away with you and your foolish aers.” The third book, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, is another as-told-by-Hoid story, albeit one with a far different tone than Tress of the Emerald Sea. This story is Sanderson’s personal favorite of the four books and is told in a more dramatic presentation, originally inspired by the Hikaru No Go manga.

As I thought of it, by instinct, I brought up a display that hung in my vision, visible only to me. It listed my platings, and their status. Looking at that…I had platings from the tips of my fingers all the way up to my elbows. It also worked for force-redistribution and gave me some strength advantages, mostly in gripping ability. You shouldn’t be playing with written word from other lands,” she said. “You’ll attract the attention of the gods.” Tress (Secret Project #1) was also a fun adventure, but I felt it developed its world and especially the characters so much better and had a better narrative voice. It's hard to love a first person narrative like this one when you don't like the main character, and I wasn't too invested in this guy for most of it. In this six-part audio series, Christina Walsh is determined to change that. After struggling with the loss of her father, she sets out on a journey to bring the justice that has eluded her to the families of other victims. And she starts with a particularly strange case. The murder of world-renowned violinist Leona McPherson who mysteriously disappeared years ago after a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. As Christina digs deeper, the story gets stranger. Leona was a prodigy, someone too good to be forgotten, but that’s exactly what has happened. She’s been forgotten. Entirely. By everyone who knew her. From the gushing music critic in her hometown to the detectives investigating her murder, even her own mother. And damn. I… Well, I was actually kind of good at this. Uncomfortably good. Sneaking. Combat augments. Practiced at grifting…. I was building quite the unflattering picture of who I’d been.

Chapter One

Frugal Wizard Inc.® has obtained a band of the 305th spectrum of category two, medieval-derivative dimensions. That fancy lingo that just means our dimensions are mostly kind of similar to one another, and are two categories removed from Earth itself. Things will be familiar in there, but not too familiar! We want it to remain exciting, after all. Uh… Weswara? My British history wasn’t the greatest, granted, but…shouldn’t I have heard of that place? Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are beyond pros in the narration world. They are a dynamic duo that always do a superb job and really I can't say enough about how well they narrate EVERYTHING they do together. I was able to listen at my usual 1.5x speed. I was also honored to be able to complete the final three volumes of The Wheel of Time, beginning with The Gathering Storm, using Robert Jordan’s notes. I was in a field. Stalks of…something grew around me. Plants a few inches tall. My utter inability to distinguish the variety indicated I probably wasn’t a farmer. So why was I in a field? And a partially-burned one at that?
