If you have a dual monitor set-up and are not extremely tight on space, I highly recommend the 48 x 23.7 desk as opposed to the 19 x 40. It’s not a huge desk though regardless. You will like the extra space. However if you’re tight on space, the 19 x 40 will be ok but you may find yourself wanting a little more functional space (again, for dual monitors only).
