If a hungry pike needs to chase a meal, it will go for the biggest potential meal possible, which often means another pike (sometimes one bigger than themselves!).

I personally, use a mouth friendly 'gag' for a couple of reasons, when caught the pike is placed on an unhooking mat, gag is inserted and the hook removed (I only use a single hook), the fish is then returned safely too the water.
