It’s an awe-inspiring reading list for any budding musician, not because the books chosen are brightened by the huge stars they cover but because Rodgers’ selection is so intelligent. He not only selects from the aforementioned heroes but also looks at producers like Phil Spector and Berry Gordy as well as books on the industry itself such as Hit Men: Power Brokers and Fast Money Inside the Music Business by Fredric Dannen. I worked in the music industry during the ‘70s and have firsthand knowledge of Chic’s rise to fame. I was really looking forward to reading Rodgers’ autobiography and about his experiences working in the music industry particularly during that time. Nile Rodgers is considered one of the most influential producers in the history of popular music, having co-founded 70s band CHIC and produced some of the biggest chart hits performed by Madonna, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Diana Ross and, most recently, Daft Punk.

Through his inspiring keynote presentations; The evolution of Ideas and The Power of Creative Collaboration, Nile Rodgers explores not only his insanely successful career, but also his fair share of personal obstacles that he has had to overcome, from addiction to cancer. The “immersive, musical and theatrical roller disco experience” will open on June 16 at the Park’s Wollman Rink, where it will remain through Oct. 1, according to a press release. Created by “experience-based” production studio Constellation Immersive in partnership with Los Angeles Media Fund and events promoter Live Nation, the boroughs’ newest wheeled dance venue will offer not just a place to skate but also “theatrical performances,” as well as live DJs, artists and special guests. Nile's book was an insightful anmd fascinating read. It was clearly written in his own words and I found that both refreshing and a welcomed change to the traditional co-author/ghost writer inclusion. Although I felt he was spending far too much time discussing his childhood, I realized after finishing the book that this part of his life is was essential for me to better get an understanding of who Nile Rodgers was and what he has become as a result of all he had to endure. As the Co-founder of CHIC, Nile pioneered a musical language that generated chart-topping hits like "Le Freak", the biggest selling single in the history of Atlantic Records and sparked the advent of hip-hop with

Farewell, beloved, good, and noble friend! Ever continue your love and friendship towards me, just as I shall ever be your faithful BEETHOVEN." I read these letters over and over again. 5. The Real Frank Zappa Book by Frank Zappa and Peter Occhiogrosso

Le Freak: An Upside Down Story of Family, Disco, and Destiny is one of the most engaging, entertaining, profound, and relatable memoirs that I've yet read. This book is interesting to me personally because I know so many of the people, places, and things involved. I put it on my list because I liked reading about the recording sessions, technical decisions, and the Hendrix studio mindset. He was portrayed as a taskmaster who also suffered from something akin to ADD. It was fantastic to see that sometimes beautifully-crafted creations came from persistence, virtuosity – or wonderful accidents. 10. The Undiscovered Paul Robeson, An Artist's Journey, 1898–1939 by Paul RobesonThat aside, I found his stories of working with Diana, Madonna, David Bowie and a host of others very entertaining. I would recommend this book to anyone who, like myself was a child of the Disco era and especially those with a little more age who were on the dance floor grooving to the production stylings of this musical genius. Eric Dolphy: A Musical Biography and Discography by Vladimir Simosko and Barry Tepperman “I became very aware of Dolphy aged 17, when he’d already been dead five years – but his music sounded like the future. I found it fitting that the book starts with his death. He was a compulsive, focused, and driven man who suffered from diabetes. I couldn’t help but wonder if he had a sense that his days were numbered, hence the compulsivity. The book has a detailed discography and a record of his performances that I found almost textbook-like – not a bad thing because there doesn’t seem to be a lot written about him. The cast of characters is a virtual Who’s Who of innovative musicians – and in this crowded pool Dolphy stands out.” -NR

Nile Rodgers' influence on modern pop music can barely be defined by his oeuvre of work as musician, producer and songwriter. A career that spans four decades and scores of hits, yet he has always been content being on the sidelines. Le Freak showcases a major portion of the career of Nile Rodgers. the Hitmaker.Painted in 2022, at the junction of Cross Street and Station Road, a mural of which sportsperson is in Newport Pagnell? Born in New York City in 1952, legendary musician, composer, and record producer Nile Rodgers has been a powerful force in the pop music industry for over four decades. Best known for his work as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the band Chic – which helped shape the disco movement of the ’70s – he’s also celebrated for his numerous collaborations with notable artists like David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran, Daft Punk, and Lady Gaga. As the main creative engine in the 70's-era disco duo Chic, Rodgers wrote and performed Good Times, Le Freak (Freak Out), and countless other platinum hits that NYC dance clubs would simply leave spinning over and over for hours at a time. This is the story of Motown Records, as told by the ex-wife of its legendary CEO Berry Gordy. They say, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" and Raynoma is furious here. The things that kept me reading are the familiar songs, characters, and the detail. Being a musician herself, Raynoma's writing has a very lyrical and – dare I say hooky? – quality. If half of this salacious material is true, which she says, "As god is my witness", every word of it is – it could change the way you feel about some true music icons. 7.
