Once Denji manages to defeat Santa Claus, he is approached by Quanxi and her friends. They instantly surrender upon Makima's arrival, with Quanxi begging that her harem be spared. Makima decapitates them without hesitation. Gun Devil arc After successfully infiltrating the hideout and capturing the Katana Man Makima is seen reporting to a superior. She reported that Sawatari who was a former Private Devil Hunter contracted with the Gun Devil and passed guns to the Yakuza, in exchange for which she wanted the Chainsaw Devil's heart. She also reports that Sawatari committed suicide before they could interrogate her and that they obtained 1.4 Kg of Gun Devil fragments. Which when combined with their already obtained 5 Kg was moving towards the main body.

The most common spelling of Makima in Japanese is 牧間, which can be read, as a play on 人間/"human", as "shepherd". Which can go with how she essentially can make people into her " sheeple." Makima is seen partnering Aki with the Angel Devil stating that he is the most powerful member of the 4th excluding Kishibe. She also tells Aki that the Angel Devil is lazy and that he doesn't have to be friendly with him, only to use him well as he could be a valuable asset.

It was also revealed that Kishibe also had a plan to kill Makima for greater good by asking his former partner, Quanxi, to join his cause while knowing that Makima is listening to every conversation that he had. When Makima ruthlessly murders Quanxi and two of her girlfriends, Kishibe prefers not to open his blindfold to prevent himself witnessing the horror Makima has inflicted towards them. Despite this, Kishibe also prefers to not interfere with Makima's business so long as she is on the humanity side even if she commits several inhuman things that she will do to other people or animals. Admi has no qualms about sharing this information to Makima, but feels this doesn't explain much about the Ark itself. She then hands him a book that details the history and production of Nikkes. It explains that Nikkes were mankind's means to defend themselves against the Raptures and were modeled after the Goddess of Victory. The inaugural Nikke team known as " Goddess" was instrumental for the humans to secure their first victory against their monstrous foes. They were mass-produced as a result and their creation was universally approved with people willing to donate their brains to help the cause. Though the process was unstable at the time since many brains were rejected or were placed into mass-produced Nikkes. Anderson asks the protagonist to gather essential information about the Ark and put together a presentation for Makima. This is a way for the Government to make her feel more accustomed to the Ark and will hopefully forge new relations between them. He wants him to introduce everything he can to their guest including the food, the culture, the people, and everything else he can think of. Despite believing he is very familiar with the Ark already, he agrees to help. To aid him on this assignment, Anderson has also gathered some helpers to assist his research; the Triangle Squad consisting of Privaty, Yulha, and Admi. As civil servants of the Central Government, they are very privy to handle this operation given their knowledge of many of the Ark's classified secrets. Though he is a bit surprised they will be working together, after Yulha explains what they will do, it becomes more clear why they are helping. She also clarifies that while they will aid him gather the necessary information he needs, it's up to him to convey it to Makima. Privaty explains as he was the first one the Devil Hunters were introduced to, they would probably be more receptive to the information if they heard it from a more familiar source. Since Triangle has their hands busy, each member will be designated to assist him research a specific topic. Admi will help him unravel the Ark's history today, Privaty will help him look into food tomorrow, and Yulha will help him study people the day afterwards. With a solid plan formed, The protagonist and Admi head to uncover the Ark's long history. However, at the same time, in Chapter 97, she can be perceived as a tragic character who only wants to feel love and empathy as she attempts to create a world where everyone is equal to her footing so that she could build a familial relationship due to the fact that she was never shown one as the government raises her to be a ruthless, cold and no-nonsense woman that leads the Public Safety to exterminate devils and bring world peace in the present day. After her death, she is now reincarnated as a child named Nayuta, who is a docile and weaker version of her with no memories of her past. Appearance

In Japanese the word Shihai is an umbrella term for several similar concepts relating to control, conquest, rulership and domination .etc. So while in Japanese it was already clear what type of Devil she was as well as being a horseman upon the first time her Devil type was revealed, the umbrella term would be lost in translation and thus different languages would come up with different variations such as Control Devil and Domination Devil being the most notable examples.

It is also stated that she is on the humanity side, claiming that she attempts to save humanity from the devils that were plaguing this world. Despite some of her ruthless behavior, she has no hesitations to call out several hypocritical Yakuzas about justifying themselves being a necessary evil as she needed their cooperation to further her own plans seemingly saving humanity. In addition, Makima showed a bit of a glimpse of the humanity in her when she cried during her time with Denji watching the third film about a man seemingly reconciling with his lost friend. Makima is also shown to be the serious and calm person on her job as she made herself a no-nonsense authority figure for the Devil Hunter bureau itself while mostly spend her time as a person who has limited emotions over the course of the story. Despite this, Makima is shown to be a respected figure by the Devil Hunters as according to one of them, Aki Hayakawa, he owed Makima deeply because Makima saved her life from a dark and troubled past while another one, Madoka, also respected Makima due to her respecting the decision to quit the bureau after the massacre towards the Devil Hunters happened. Holding the title Control Devil and being one of the most powerful demons in the stories, Makima has several powers on her disposal: Her association with pests could be reflective of how the Conquest Horseman is often interpreted as the Horseman of Pestilence. The reason for the Conquest Horseman being changed to Pestilence in some interpretations is because scholars found Conquest to be too similar to War. Pestilence was an easy change because at the time, bows and arrows were laced with poisons and toxins and the Conquest Horseman held a bow and arrow. Even though Makima's hands are in a more gun-like position, her "Bang!" ability can also be comparable to shots from an arrow.
