Altiform ® Compression Hosiery is often prescribed following the healing of a leg ulcer to prevent recurrence and is also an effective treatment for varicose veins and swelling. How does it work?

Superficial or early varices, varicosis during pregnancy, swollen or aching legs and ankles. Suitable for long distance travel. Class II – Medium support (18 – 24mmHg compression at the ankle) Altipress 40 is not suitable for everyone with a leg ulcer and you may need to wear bandages. Repeat step number 5 for the lining fabric as well. Be sure and leave the same seam allowance you did above as well (if applicable). Two-layer hosiery kits should be considered to treat venous leg ulcers in cases where wounds are small enough to be contained in an occlusive dressing with exudate well contained in the primary dressing. Two-layer hosiery kits are perfect for patients with little oedema and those that present with a good limb shape.

Use old pieces of clothing. Now I’m in no way suggesting cutting up perfectly good clothing. But repurposing clothing that no longer fits or suits your taste instead of sending it to the thrift store is a great way to get some fabric-especially on a budget. It also helps keep clothing from landfills. NOTE: When printing your pieces, make sure you print to scale and NOT at 100%. Otherwise, the pieces really won’t fit together. Altipress 40 ® Leg Ulcer Hosiery Kit provides the 40mmHg at the ankle required for healing venous leg ulcers. It is suitable for patients with regular shaped limbs and low exuding ulcers. It is also suitable for post-VLU treatment to help prevent recurrence.

The Activa liners provide 10mmHg light compression for maintenance therapy, palliative care and for patients non concordant with higher levels of compression, working on the assumption that some compression is better than none. Gross varices, post thrombotic venous insufficiency, gross oedema, venous leg ulcer treatment and prevention of recurrence.
