Description

I was in a rush so I just left the casing in RCP which is permissible as it's a non-porous coating.

Dynax-S50’s soft-film is optimised for enclosed cavities where extremely corrosive conditions develop. Dynax-S50 is also recommended for protection of valuable machinery and components in transit, machine tools, moulds etc. Dynax-S50 can be removed using suitable solvent. Dynax-S50 is not formulated for prolonged exposure to ultra-violet (UV) light. As for the ACF 50, I don't buy the aerosol and get the 1 litre bottle instead, and spray it on with a garden pump sprayer. The one I use is a 2 ltr bottle that has an extension hose and lance, which makes it easy to get at hard to reach places. Depending on the car, you might even be able to reach enough to spray it without ramps. The nozzzle gives quite a fine spray, which is what you need to minimise the mess, but it's still a bit messy and will drip for a few hours, depending on how heavily you apply it. This is a link to the sprayer I use: Dynax-S50 has been proven to substantially outperform competitors cavity waxes in salt-spray trials under conditions of ASTM B117. Here are the results:

After solvent washing the panel fronts any remaining waxy film is removed, allowing inspection of the underlying surface. Assessment of the product performance is then easy. The advanced metal seeking anti-corrosion molecules which form dynax S50 are able to displace water, so even damp surfaces can be protected, these same molecules arrest and prevent corrosion even on already rusty surfaces and provide remarkable self-healing abilities if the film is damaged. Whilst dynax S50 is primarily a cavity rustproofing compound it’s also able to prevent corrosion in a multitude of mud traps and water collecting voids. dynax S50 has been used with superb results to protect voids and cavities in steel boats, vessels, off shore installations and other steel structures subject to severely corrosive atmospheres. The anti corrosion treatment - Bilt Hamber - Electrox is in turn covered by Bilt Hamber - Epoxy-Mastic.

It creeps into welded seams and seals surface defects. It forms a soft, brown, wax-like film that self-heals in the event of disruption. You mention too, Hammerite Stonechip which is fine, but seeing that you don't get much ballistic damage in the arches believe it or not, its not ideal. Use that on the chassis underside, the valances etc. Bear in mind too, that you get a hell of a lot of flexing in modern wheel arches. Use a New Technology product that is flexible and stretches and one that can creep into weld seams, screw threads etc. Also, if your car experiences massive swings of humidity (such as being driven outside during the day, and going into a warm garage at night) you need to make sure that it doesn't peel off, as some older more traditional products are prone to do. ASTM 117 only tests for resistance to corrosion, many manufacturers don't bother with testing for humidity as well. Some products are formulated specifically to pass 117 (or ISO9227), and as a result, are rigid in a molecular sense and aren't too flexible. Dynax is 3-4 times more effective than other waxes, and I can say that hand on heart. I think I said elsewhere, that if I had a decent new car, I'd use a cavity wax on it, and certainly on a bog standard car that's just a few years old.

Dynax-S50 is also able to arrest existing corrosion and provide long-term protection to both heavily corroded and corrosion-free surfaces. The pressurised giant-sized dynax S50 aerosol dispenser accepts interchangeable heads: The 60cm cavity injection lance has a, precision fluid-tip to deliver at high-pressure, a dense, finely atomised circular mist of dynax S50 ensuring 360 degree coverage of box sections and cavities. For accessible areas the extension tube is removed and a solid-cone spray pattern actuator simply clipped in its place. The pressurised aerosol dispensers contain a useful 750 ml (3/4 of a litre) of material. is there any point layering it up? e.g. if i spray it on and do all 4 wheels, a few hours later doing it again, or is that pointless? Use a brush, roller or spray to apply Dynax-S50. Atomisation into enclosed cavities and voids is recommended to ensure thorough coverage of all surfaces. Dynax-S50 contains highly polar corrosion inhibitors that are able to displace surface moisture; very wet surfaces should be pre-treated using Bilt-Hamber Ferrosol. One thing that I have been asked about this morning is about the rather intrusive brown colour. The issue is not as problematic as you might think. I understand that to you guys, aesthetics and appearance are key, but in a few hundred miles, it loses its bright look and gets covered in road film and grime anyway. When we initially developed it, Dynax was specified by trawlermen who wanted a decent quality wax and who weren't overly fussed about the colour. We engineered into it, an obvious brown dye so that it would be apparent by the user, what areas had been covered and what hadn't, so although transparent is cool, it isn't as important when you want substance and efficiency over style. If you go to boating marinas, you'll see it being used all the time once vessels are prepped for winter. Dynax is the real deal, it is light years ahead of anything else in technical terms. Unlike traditional paints and coatings these molecules are not bothered by corrosion products and so do not fail when applied to pre-rusted surfaces.

For the record the DYNAX UC us clear, maybe a slight yellowish tinge, but this will enable me to see any gremlins, should they occur in the future. Re ACF50 does yours come out easily in spray form? I ask as every winter when I’m doing jobs on them Dynax-S50 has a high solids content – over 50%, it’s this content that forms the anti-corrosion coating, and whilst other high solids materials don’t penetrate sufficiently Dynax-S50 creeps by capillary action deeply into seams, flanges and folded edges, in side-by-side trials Dynax-S50 has been proven to creep significantly further than other cavity waxes, some with solids contents as low as 25%.

The final picture in the series below shows dynax S50 protected metal is still in exceptional condition. If you want the very best treatment possible, then take everything down to bare metal and treat any "pitted" areas with Hydrate 80. Let it do its thing for the longest time it suggests, then treat it a second time, using brush strokes against what you did first time round. https://cdn.opieoils.co.uk/images/variants/medium/bilthamber/bilt-hamber-dynax-s50-750ml-aerosol-4.jpg This report is a fantastic resource to anyone that needs to know about rust prevention, and what products to get and what ones to avoid. dynax S50 is a high-performance anti-corrosion wax that provides exceptionally long-lasting protection to steel surfaces.
