However, what sets ‘Dinosaur Tea Party’ apart is the fact that it is quite simply… charming! Ever since the 90s, thanks mostly to Jurassic Park, my favourite dinosaur has always been the Dilophosaurus; mean, green and absolutely terrifying. Here though, the venom spitting reptile is presented as a glamorous, bespectacled socialite going by the name of Jeanine and it’s this level of absurdity mixed with the glorious artwork that really brings the game to life. “One Lump Or Two?” Hang up streamers, curling ribbon or crepe paper from the ceiling (Yes, crepe paper will come handy!) to create the perfect atmosphere for the party. 13 Adventure Filled Dinosaur Party Games

The player tokens used for this purpose are made to resemble tea bags which is a lovely touch. To win the game you will need to correctly ascertain the identity of 3 dinosaurs, each time gaining a sugar cube as a reward. I love the idea of the sugar cubes, it keeps the game grounded in this world of a make believe tea party. All of the components feel to be of a very sturdy quality and will hold up to a lot of playtime. What’s more, this is the first time I’ve come across a rulebook that includes recipes for afternoon tea. The theme is definitely strong with this one! Final ThoughtsGameplay is extremely simple and can be played in about 15 minutes… but boy is it fun! Players are dealt a random card showing one of the guests at the tea party and then each person takes a turn at asking the other guests questions to deduce their identity. With various identifying factors like glasses, pets, cups of tea and flowery adornments, there are plenty of questions to identify these reptilian partygoers. Always says NO" Always answer NO when a player inquires if you have a trait, even if the correct answer is yes. Earlier I mention an element called “quirks”. Three tiles are assigned to the dinosaurs in the middle of the table at the start of the game. If Tabitha has the tile that says “Always Lies”, then the player who is Tabitha has to lie in response to the question every time they are asked. These quirks throw a little wrench in the system that has a lot of value in the early game. I honestly wish their were more quirks to switch between almost like a variable setup from game to game. Players secretly look at the dinosaur card they were dealt — that’s the guest they are — and they’re ready to play.

Not exactly a game but a ton of fun. Expect to hear and see lots of dinosaur action when the kids get hold off the amazing dinosaur masks. There are times when a good, simple game is needed; when playing with younger ones or with those who really aren’t in to more complex games. If that’s the case then ‘Dinosaur Tea Party’ definitely fits the bill. It gets the whole family talking and laughing, which will always be a great reason for any game to make its way to the table. table covering for the food table (but like I said earlier crepe paper bleeds, so protect the table) Isn’t that how the dinosaur party planning starts. Roaring with excitement or is it roaring with stress. Though we don’t hang out at party entrances except when it’s time to go home and we just stand and talk for another half an hour, they do play an important part in parties. The iconography in this game is spot on and makes it simple to figure out what attributes a dinosaur has. Not sure if your character is wearing a tiny hat? Just look on the card and see if the hat icon is present. Parties are so much more fun with guests! Invite your pals… or your kid’s pals to a roaring fun party with a dinosaur party invitation. 1. Stomp over and let’s party like a dinosaur! Obviously, players must answer truthfully…unless they’re a dinosaur with a quirk (explained soon)) Vincent is drinking tea and showing teeth but isn’t in a green room nor eating. Are they close to guessing who I am? The age range is nearly spot on. However, if you choose to play with children under seven, I highly recommend two tweaks: reducing the number of dinosaur tiles, and leaving out the quirks. 6-8 tiles worked well in games with my five-year-old. When we play as a family we usually have him play on a team to help make guesses and flip over tokens. He loves the game so much we couldn’t possibly leave him out.

I just don’t think my teenage daughters would be very thrilled with that party theme. So, I’ll leave it to you to host the most exciting dinosaur party! The gameplay mechanics are easy to grasp, making Dinosaur Tea Party accessible to both casual and seasoned gamers. The limited information available and the need to carefully choose questions keep players engaged and thinking. As the tea party progresses, the mystery unfolds, and players must use their deduction skills to unravel the secrets hidden amidst the tea and scones. We got a copy of Dinosaur Tea Party from our BoardGameGeek Secret Santa last month and it was an immediate hit. We’ve played it over and over and everyone we’ve introduced it to has likewise loved it.

One of the strengths of Dinosaur Tea Party is its replayability. Each game unfolds differently as players employ different strategies and face new combinations of dinosaurs. The element of surprise and unpredictability keeps the game fresh and engaging, ensuring that no two tea parties are ever the same. The desire to uncover all the hidden identities and improve deduction skills makes Dinosaur Tea Party a game you’ll want to revisit time and time again. You can also spice it up a bit by using the quirks to add a little complexity, I only wish there were more of them. I could suggest that you use real eggs outside but maybe I shouldn’t… that could be quite the mess! It’s really fun when traits are narrowed down enough so that you can figure it out because of your own dinosaur traits. For example, one guest may be narrowed down enough to know it could be between two dinosaurs. But if you’re one of those dinosaurs, then you know exactly who they are. Of course, boys might enjoy a donuts-and-dinos party too. After all, boys are known for loving food. Dinosaur Tea Party is a really impressive deduction game that was created for families and people who can laugh at themselves. I love the way Restoration uses the attribute tiles in the game because it means that people with not so great memories aren’t at a disadvantage. Each tile has an icon on one side and the same icon with an X over the top on the other side. If a players dinosaur is not showing it’s teeth, they flip the tile to the side with an X over the teeth and leave it in front of them.
