Description

Once again, told through the voice of the insightful, funny and sweet dog at the centre of the story, A Dog's Promise lives up to the rest of the series as a wonderful book about dogs and their humans. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming, these books have been some of my absolute favourites. The way the author gives voice to Bailey and the thought processes Bailey uses, are exactly the way I picture my own dog thinking I still haven't been brave enough to watch any of the movies that have been released, based on the books, yet (especially while owning an ageing dog myself) because I suspect I'll be a sobbing mess AGAIN. I have to say, as much as I love this author, as much as I love the movies that get made from his books (A Dog's Journey, which is A Dog's Purpose #2 is easily the best of the three movies) I had some trepidation. I thought to myself, will I be tired of hearing the ongoing adventures of Bailey, Bailey, Bailey which I thought had come to a happy ending at the end of book and movie #2 in the A Dog's Purpose series? Was seized with an inexplicable question, a question of purpose. This didn’t seem like the sort of thing a dog should think about, but I found myself returning to the issue often. Why? Why did I harder a nagging feeling that as a dog there was something I was supposed to do?”

A Dog's Purpose was released on digital HD on April 18, 2017, and was followed by a release on Blu-ray and DVD on May 2, 2017, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. [26] [27] The film topped the home-video sales chart for the week ending on May 7, 2017. [28] Controversy [ edit ]Reborn in the mid-1980s as a male Corgi, Bailey is adopted by Atlanta college student Maya, who names him Tino. Lonely, he tries to find her happiness. She meets Al, a classmate, after Tino falls for Al's dog, a female Landseer named Roxy. They marry, having three children. Tino is heartbroken when one day Roxy does not return from the vet. As Tino ages and dies, he thanks Maya for giving him one of his best lives.

A Universal Pictures release of an Amblin Entertainment and Reliance Entertainment presentation in association with Walden Media of a Pariah production A woman breaks the car window, and rescues Toby. She brings him home, and presents him to her eight-year-old son, Ethan. Toby is renamed Bailey. Over the course of many years, Bailey lives a full life with Ethan, and accompanies him through many difficulties, including arson, which leads to Ethan permanently injuring his leg, and ending his promising athletic career. Ethan goes to live with his grandparents at their farm in Michigan so he can be with his girlfriend Hannah and finish his senior year in high school. Around that time, things are not going well in the family, with Ethan's injury, an eventual breakup with Hannah, and a divorce between Ethan's parents. Soon after moving, Ethan goes off to college, leaving Bailey with infrequent visits from him during the holidays. Bailey's health starts to decline, with him taking naps very often and being weak. Soon, Ethan's mother and grandparents take him to the vet, where he is once again put down. I’ve been a writer my whole life, but never have I ever written anything as important as A Dog’s Purpose. I thought this was a cute book (told from the dog's POV) about one dog's search for purpose in life. Although in this book the dog wan't just one dog he was Toby,Bailey, Ellie, and Buddy. He was born, he lived, he died to be reborn again. In each of his lives he searches for his purpose.

There they were … everyone I’d ever loved in my life. … I was a good dog, and this was my reward. Now I would get to be with the people I loved. That’s what it was called. When I found out that I was doing the sequel, everyone was like, ‘The dog movie?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, dog movie 2!’ But there’s a lot of pressure because it did so well there. I think it’s because of the culture. The themes in this movie — it talks about forgiveness, family, love — I think those are very powerful things, especially in China. Those are themes that every Chinese person can relate with.” All the Ways the Dog Dies
