Description

We are developing a new school-based service, co-producing with local schools and Surrey County Council to ensure it is responsive to the needs of the school age population and delivers what is needed for children, young people and their families and the schools. The carers group is an 8-10 week programme that aims to help female carers of sexually abused children and young people. All referrals are made through the Children and Family Health Surrey One Stop online portal(pleaseuse Google Chrome to access). This is the same portal as Mindworks Surrey.

In the case of crisis, professionals can make a request for support to Access and Advice (formerly CAMHS Single Point of Access) on 0300 222 5755, 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm Saturday. Before any assessment takes place, it is essential that we have consent from your child if they are 12 years or older. We assume a child of this age and upwards (unless there is information to suggest otherwise) is able to be involved in the decision making about their assessment. We will ask about consent at each stage of the assessment. Regardless of age, it is helpful to talk through with your child what the assessment is for and begin to have conversations about what ASD and/or ADHD are. been showing symptoms in at least two different settings–for example, at home and at school, to rule out the possibility that the behaviour is just a reaction to certain teachers or to parental control The service works with Surrey young people aged 16-25 years who are leaving care and who have a registered GP in Surrey. Services provided

Once a referral is received it is triaged by a multi-disciplinary team of nurses and child health advisors, and then sent on to the correct service. TheOne Stop clinical team will triage the referral and make this decision – so the child gets to the right service, first time. Specialist therapy and support for children, young people and families who have been affected by sexual trauma, offering both individual and group therapy Although not always the case, some children may also have signs of other problems or conditions alongside ADHD, such as:

An alliance service, delivered through the combined skills and experience of a range of NHS and voluntary sector specialist organisations Referrals are made via the Children and Family Health Surrey One Stop, a centralised referral and triage service for Surrey's specialist children's services. We know that life experiences can look like neurodivergent needs including sleep, diet, life trauma, time away from peers during covid etc. We therefore ask that attempts are made to support these areas of need in the first instance in liaison with your school nurse, SENCO or primary mental health worker linked with the school. No, these are not secure methods. We accept referrals via the online portal, telephone and post as described above. Where can I access the referral form? We work closely with the Assessment Consultation Therapy (ACT) team and the Solace Centre where appropriateA move away from ‘referrals’ towards ‘requests for support’; this reflects the more holistic and less diagnosis-led approach Child Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (CISVA) service offering support through the criminal investigation process EHCPs are not based on any diagnosis, but focus on the presenting needs of a child or young person. Having a diagnosis of any condition does not mean that any child or young person automatically receives an EHCP. if there have been any recent significant events in your or your child's life, such asa death or divorce in the family

Christmas can be a difficult time for some, below are local sources of support that will be available through the festive holidays for children, young people and their families in Surrey. For an extensive list of local and national support through the festive holidays please visit Surrey Youth Voice.

Referrals for continence (early toileting, constipation, nocturnal enuresis, daytime enuresis), occupational therapy and speech and language therapy can be made directly by parents/carers themselves via One Stop. How doesOne Stop work? It is important to be aware that at each stage of the assessment, the team will make a decision regarding whether the young person’s presentation is suggestive of ASD, ADHD or both. If it is decided at any stage that the young person’s difficulties could be better explained by other factors, the assessment will not continue and the young person may be offered alternative support and/or will be discharged from the Neurodevelopmental (ND) Service. I spoke to a lady called Sarah who was fantastic. She related to what I was saying about my son and signposted me to get lots of support. She could not have been more patient and helpful. Initial home visit assessment to all cases introduced to us from the Solace Centre and signposting to other services

The criteria for making a diagnosis of ADHD in children, teenagers and adults are outlined below. Diagnosis in children and teenagers There are a number of different specialists you or your child may be referred to for a formal assessment, including: The first time I was told about CAMHS I didn’t want to accept any help as I thought it would make me feel defeated and hopeless, as it meant I couldn’t help myself anymore. Aspects of CAMHS are very challenging, such as being asked tough questions and finding the root of all my problems, but it does help as it made sure I had someone to talk to and who would understand and help me as much, if not more, than I could do alone. CAMHS has made me realise that I am not alone, and I know there is always at least one kind person who I can confide in and trust.”GPs and other professionals can refer to the specialist children’s services via online portal, telephone and post. A “no wrong door” approach - all children, young people and families will be supported to find the right help at the right time In recent years, the demand for ADHD and Autism assessments has dramatically increased across the country. Therefore, the number of requests Mindworks Surrey receives every day has significantly increased. We are working hard to increase capacity across Mindworks to process these requests.
