Fox visit other first animals to ask their advice. They suggest activities that work for them, but they won`t necessarily work for Fox. The Good Egg is a nicely illustrated book. I bought it from my son’s scholastic catalog without being able to read the inside, and I will be giving this book away. I loved the art. It was also a nice concept and the message is pretty good in itself that sometimes you just have to let go but the text and the execution wasn't that great. I loved the first book in the series but this doesn't compare for me. I love that the Good Egg is self-reflective and takes it upon himself to make some healthy choices. He gets out in nature, reads lots, writes, paints and de-stresses with yoga and bubble baths. It’s good to present these options to kids and encourage them to find their own calming practices. Dynamic duo Jory John and Pete Oswald hatch a funny and charming story that reminds us of the importance of balance, self-care, and accepting those we love (even if they are sometimes a bit rotten).

This story is great for those students who tend to be the mother hens in your classroom. I feel like every school year, I have a student who falls into this category! The Good Egg encourages self-care and being able to try new things. One of my favorite things about this book is the illustrations. There are some really funny details in the pictures. And the author entertains you with fun egg puns. Venn Diagram: Have the children complete a venn diagram with either words or pictures, comparing themselves to the Good Egg. This is one of those titles that makes me so happy to be a children's librarian. That there are such talented authors and illustrators in the world who dedicate their time to bringing joy to children and adults through such charming works is a blessing. Have you read The Good Eggby John Jory and Pete Oswald? If you have not, make it a priority to read it! This book is by the same author of The Bad Seed, and is hilarious. Egg is so sweet and well-meaning and drawn so adorably.
