The Pikes years then, were Tony settling down and reigning it in a bit, which is pretty hilarious when you consider that he was still tearing the absolute arse out of it in the VIP room at the back of Ku well into his 60's. However, it seems that he does genuinely love the women who have been part of his life and is most likely just being honest and a bit clumsy with his words. His name dropping of the entertainment crowd he attracted with a large flair of misogynistic sexual encounters was repetitive and drearily drab. I felt a sadness that long standing relationships were almost a disposable commodity for a promised land that didn't exist.

Fascinating story about legendary hotel host Tony Pike - although when you read this book you'll discover there was a lot more to his life than Pikes. Mr The Story Behind The Ibiza Legend presents a raw, unfiltered look at a success story unlike any other. Many people will regard his exploits as depraved , but in truth they would also envy his lifetime of experiences. Much-married, hedonistic hotel owner who partied hard with many a pop star and was known as the Hugh Hefner of Ibiza; John Donne may have written that no man is an island, but Tony Pike came close. Ibiza legend who founded legendary celeb hangout Pikes Ibiza and helped turn island into party paradise. He'd decided to set his mind to being extremely wealthy and living the life of a playboy before inventing something very much like the black plastic menu board with movable letters so beloved of the British cafe, making a very pretty penny in the process. Whether or not you approve of his womanising, drug taking, and wheeler-dealer lifestyle, there’s no denying Ibiza legend Tony Pike lived his 85 years to the full.

Ibiza legend who founded legendary celeb hangout Pikes Ibiza and helped turn island into party paradise”. From his early beginnings, to opening the most well known boutique hotel in Ibiza - Freddie Mercury, Grace Jones, George Michael, Kylie, Salt and Peppa - they've all been there and partied with Tony! Recent releases through the Portobello Novella Series have included chick lits ‘DJ Whore’ and ‘DJ Wags: Housewives of House’, both by Jaqi Loye-Brown. It is at this point in which he decides that the white island is where he wants to settle down and set about building his very own private paradise, much of it with his own hands and sweat.

Not sure what i was expecting after listening to this…no doubt that Tony Pike is a legend and has lived a very fruitful life that many would die for! He bought and sold an island, owned a marina on the Cote d’Azur and had been pals with far eastern royalty.

Just finished reading the autobiography on the legendary Mr Pike and I’ve gotta say it’s one of the most mind blowing life stories I’ve ever heard! I’m always interested in stories like this and there are some truly brilliant anecdotes in here (and some shocking ones too). A depressing start to the book , but he showed courage despite suffering abuse in his early years ,definitely gives a meaning to work hard play hard definitely the original playboy /party king . Grace Jones is left to contradict his version of events without him getting pissy or argumentative about it. The narration of this story is great, and the stories about the rich and famous especially Grace Jones and Kenny Everett’s are shocking and entertaining.ciò, yu se un bel personaggio, se queo che faceva i drink nel video de club tropicana, un gran simpaticon ma el iera anche un fio de na bona donna, el gaveva sempre voia de ciavar e tutte quee che ghe capitava a tiro le impeniva senza pietà ma ancha i omeni che non pensè. After shooting Wham’s Club Tropicana video by Pikes’s pool George became one of many globally-recognisable regular faces. Safe to say he too can say he’s lived quite the life many people do not get to experience by seeing the world like he has. Having visited Pikes Hotel since reading the book, I don't think he undersells it at all and from the book you can understand why the island has the reputation it does.

Tony looks back on the extreme highs and lows of an unparalleled life, goes exclusively behind the scenes of the Club Tropicana video shoot which put his unique hotel on the map and discusses his relationships with guests/friends including George Michael, Freddie Mercury, Julio Iglesias and lover Grace Jones. I questioned how much of his recounting of the ‘beautiful women and men’ he ‘bedded’ was actually true.Dubbed the Hugh Hefner of Ibiza, Tony Pikes created a celebrity paradise, which was visited by the likes of Freddie Mercury, George Michael, Kylie Minogue, Julio Iglesias, and more. maybe he had a better relationship than what the book led on, but he sounded like a horrible deadbeat dad. Throw in the odd ship-wreck or two, and readers will agree: This is more than just another great read… its perhaps the greatest hedonistic stories every told. he sounded like women were more important than his children and he discarded them when it wasn't at his convenience, but that's just what you get from the story. Seems a bit of a fantasist - how somebody so constantly drugged up can remember half the things he supposedly does amazes me.
