What this four-disc Blu-ray set may lack in diversity of extras, it more than makes up with the inclusion of commentary tracks for every last film, even That’s That, a clip reel created primarily as a gift to Stan Laurel.Any drop-off with the first half, which is in sepia tone, is hardly noticeable, and a still-missing sequence at the end of the first reel is compensated for with stills and title cards. But rest assured, the only mess you’ll be getting into is a huddled mess of uncontrollable laughter as you delve into the historical library of Laurel and Hardy. This set really does need to be seen to be believed and I hope that more Laurel and Hardy aficionados get the opportunity to see these versions sooner rather than later. Over the years with these, we’ve perhaps become immune and learned to overlook jumps, splices, cuts, scratches, crackly soundtracks etc etc.

The only issue is the menu’s navigation, which always reverts back to the main menu, regardless of how deep into a sub-menu you are.
