Description

It’s a fascinating impetus for a relationship: one man thinks his all-powerful magic makes him a monster until he finds that he’s still human after all, and the other thinks that he’s frail and burdensome until he discovers that he can bring seemingly infinite power to its knees with a touch.

You wouldn't want to walk out without any clothes on and looking like well, looking like you did what you just did. If the novel had been longer, one of the things that I would have liked to see was Faenir coming to terms with Arlo's mortality or the two of them finding a cure for it and then coming to terms with Arlo's mortality. That being said, although I was worried throughout that the ending would ruin the book for me, I was very happy with the how it all ended.I loved the first book in the series so much that I've re-read it, which is rare for me, so I was hotly anticipating the next in the series. Just like how Arlo turning into a vampire was an easy out for him not being immortal, or semi-immortal. So let me get this right: Arlo hates Faenirs gut for the most portion of this book, gets his sad backstory told and instantly - just a few pages later - they fuck and Arlo is smitten. Arlo finds himself tangled in a web of secrecy, family politics and unbridled magic when he comes face to face with the impending doom… his truth. The strange yearning and eventual understanding of Arlo and Faenir is one of my favorite book ships and to watch it all unfold so beautifully was quite an experience.

Speaking of sex and the whole hype surrounding this book for the spice that it contains, the sex scenes (and there are a lot of them) are done horribly.

La verdad que me costó engancharme al principio, habían ciertas cosas que se repetían bastante, pero un poco mas de las 100 páginas empieza a tomar ritmo.

I highly recommend checking out LORD OF ETERNAL FLAME, but it isn’t necessary if you want to dive right into this one! Still ima continue this series because its brainless entertainment and im interested in seeing what happens. I may have read this book in a day, but that was more out of if I don't finish it now, I never will. Arlo finds himself tangled in a web of secrecy, family politics and unbridled magic when he comes face to face with the impending doom. The politics are incredibly boring and predictable, and I was able to see everything coming from a mile away. But no, he dies of the unnamed rotting disease he has (this disease is never named throughout the entire novel, its simply "the disease my parents had" and the only symptoms ever listed are coughing up blood.

It took me a while to get into this but overall it was a pretty decent book, if I could I would give it 3. I followed Ben a while on social media and he seems like a nice guy but I don't think his books are for me. That is until one choosing he is forced to follow his brotherin to Tithe to choose their mates, and one lowly human survives his deadly touch, Arlo. The book begins with a warning that it is self-edited and self-published, and therefore may have typos. It is a nice stand alone, MM fantasy retelling based on Hades and Persephone; although it does tie into LoEN nicely. Let me start off by praising the authors magnificent wordage when it came to making Arlo the *Persephone in the plot. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
