Description

Robie and Reel soon discover that there is another group who find themselves hiding out in Eastern Colorado, armed with their millions of dollars and secretive condominiums in former military outposts, awaiting the End of Days.

From a writing standpoint, the execution rather quickly dives into - and stays in - the realm of "you've got to be kidding. There’s a sense early in the book that this might be the final outing for Will and Jess and I wondered if that was going to be the case, which I guess had me reading while on edge a little more than usual.

With Jessica pushing Will away, because "it's complicated" Will doesn't resist the town sheriff's advances and sleeps with her and Jessica knows! The story takes place in rural Colorado, and the cast of characters includes skinheads, Branch Davidian types and other folks of a "sovereign nation" mind bent.

Baldacci knows how to get readers to turn the pages, and he's in top form here" "An edge-of-the-seat ride from one of the world's thriller masters ". El libro en sí no está mal, en la línea de los anteriores, aunque con un "peliculerismo" general que no le ayuda demasiado.

While a thriller book, the book does explore the kind of hopeless psychological pain that defines our societies and how our fear of these pains control our actions. For this novel, there is decent character development in the two protagonists, though their progression differs greatly. C. for nine years, David Baldacci found fame with the publication of his first novel, “Absolute Power” in 1996—a story that would gain further prominence as a Clint Eastwood movie. The climactic reveal was not much interesting as well, a bit so so, at least compared to the previous books, especially coming right after the jawdropping chilling final reveal and overall mystery of the A-plus greatness that was The Guilty.

Learning of a troubled childhood, Robie and Reel discover new respect for the man who has been leading them on numerous missions. So there’s that contradiction, which is enjoyable (I mean, cheesy dialog has its moments) but not the norm for these characters.
