Kellan, dead from his hole, truly ended up taking the spotlight and became a shocker to the whole world. EDIT: Reading Elena's review gave me the push to downgrade this book to 2 stars, because besides Tate and that ob-gyn scene (it's the laughter okay don't judge 🤚) there is nothing about this book that I liked.

Initially, I wondered whether it was the chaotic emergence of sexual innuendos in the most inappropriate settings to be blamed for leaving me emotionless and detached from the story's multiple tragedies. a beautiful story about mental health, grieving, feeling guilt, forgiveness, and finding love after loss. I will admit I’ve never had mental health issues or depression myself so it’s difficult for me to understand, but I have a younger sister that struggled with similar things to Kellan when we were younger, so it was much easier for me to relate to Tate than to Kellan.

when tate stood up for her, it kicked some sense into leah and she learned to be happy again, giving her mechanic neighbor jonah, a single dad a chance to take her out. yes it's long and for some people, it may drag, but i really enjoy long books (zodiac academy and binding/keeping 13 girls will get it), and this was a slow burn at its finest. I kid you not (just look through the first quote attentively, will you (not)), when those two were in the same building, Tate couldn't keep his eyes off the girl.

ps - yes that pap/vaginal exam scene i know i haven't forgotten about it, it's the funniest thing ever i could not tell you how long i spent clutching my stomach from pain/embarrassment/laughter.We decided not to take the plunge and agreed to check on each other every Valentine’s Day until school ended. These two family drama storylines carried the whole book for me, and if it wasn't for them, I probably wouldn't have finished the book. Before y'all gladly agree with me that walking in on the guy pounding another woman at his working place is the most romantic setting for the first encounter (for one, you can quietly and w/o any prejudice assess his performance), I feel the need to point out that, unlike many other reviewers, I truly loved everything about Tate and Charlotte's relationship.

After walking in on him doing the deed and taking care of it, she expects him to give her an appointment. but his death was needed for the character growth and progression of not just charlotte, but also her sister, kellans dad, and his brother tate. Aside from that though, all the characters in this (with the exception of my Jonah, of course), are one-dimensional. as her boss is pregnant with twins, charlotte is asked to visit her doctor for an emergency appointment.The fact that my tears were drier than my state’s climate (which is considered high desert) should say enough. Because I read a lot who wrote about her and said that how awful and embarrassing it is, and since it's awful, then I need to read it! i told myself i'd be better about rating and reviewing books but i'm sort of at a loss for words and rating here. there was so much i loved about this book, it was emotional but didn't make me bawl my eyes out, even though kellan got close. he wrote beautiful stories that he would leave on his father's desk for him to see and appreciate, but little did he know that his own father, drunk and blacked out of his mind would steal his manuscript and publish it as his own.
