It’s kinda hard to believe that this is my first book by Ilsa Madden-Mills but I know it most definitely won’t be my last!

The spark between them was hard to ignore, and it all just built up until it exploded and they really could not keep their hands of each other once again. Ronan is now the star football coach in their small town, Nova is his neighbor, and they just keep running into each other. Ilsa is fantastic at writing a type of character that shows a whole array of emotions but still has a quirky and funny side that will steal your heart completely. The runtime is about 10 hours and it’s easy to speed up a little if you want to finish in a shorter length of time.

It's two and a half years later and Nova lands herself back home after the death of her mother to her small town to care for her sister where none other than Ronan is her neighbor and soon, colleague at school too. This is definitely a sweet romance with an interesting meet-cute, and some hot steamy bits, but honestly the meaningful non-romantic relationships and self reflection from both Nova and Ronan really sealed my love for this one. I found myself snorting at the absurdity of small-town Texas folks and their football (it’s serious stuff, y’all)!

A car accident changes his life completely, he is lost in his grief and doesn’t know how to come back from it. Then 2 and a half years later they meet again with both of them living in the same town of blue belle (hart of dixie anyone?Both characters had such an emotional background story that it made every little thing that came up make sense in how they reacted. Skeet and Sonia were also fantastic supporting characters and Skeet especially had me cracking up with his endearing, golden-retriever energy! Nova ends up being a part-time teacher and part-time PA for Ronan and that’s when he proposes that they fake a relationship to help deal with other people. Some of my friends liked this too, so I’m sorry if I’m insulting your personal preferences… but this book just didn’t work for me.

This book had it all, wonderful main characters, and a great supporting cast of characters to keep it fun and real. Ronan Smith is a superstar NFL quarterback who had it all until his dreams were shattered by and accident that took away his fiancée and his career. There’s nothing overly bad about the book (beyond an excessive amount of OW and OM drama), but there also wasn’t enough swoon to overcome that initial fumble either.However, Ronan, who at the time is still grieving his late fiancée, pulls a major faux pas that abruptly ends the evening and the short-lived relationship.
