We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e.g. (but without limitation) in connection with any reorganization, restructuring, merger or sale, or other transfer of assets. Regardless of whether the Service offers the functionality to contribute, you are solely responsible and liable for any content and information that you create, upload, post, publish, link to, duplicate, transmit, record, display or otherwise make available on the Service or to other Members, such as chat messages, text messages, videos, audio, audio recordings, music, pictures, photographs, text and any other information or materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted (“Contributions”). The second largest island of the Inner Hebrides, the Isle of Mull lies off the coast of Argyll and Bute, west Scotland. The island’s capitol is the colourful town of Tobermory, most famous for the colourfully-painted houses that overlook the harbour and for being the home of Mull’s only whisky distillery. Named after the town, Tobermory distillery started life in the 1790s, first as a brewery and then a distillery, under the name Ledaig, from the Gaelic name of the area, meaning ‘safe haven’. Youngish expressions of the 1970s Ledaig vintages were bottled in the eighties and are considered the greatest examples of the early Ledaig malts. These bottlings are classics, produced in an old-style way with slower fermentation and distillation methods. Comment: There is a good balance between savoury and sweet, the coastal character of the whisky is clear, it reminds me of bonfires on the beach. Its time in sherry casks has also left its mark, mingling with the peatiness without being overpowered.

Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. Ledaig has only recently become widely available as a single malt after renewed investment and promotion in the 1990s and early 2000s by former owners Burn Stewart and their successors Distell. Limited Edition Whisky

When the Tobermory distillery was reopened after many years in 1972 it was actually named Ledaig - however many casks were labeled as Tobermory also, and almost all production in these early years was peated. Ledaig whiskies from the early 1970s were still being bottled well into the 2000s and they often portray the richly peated character of the distillate. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. Palate: Sweet and spicy, the palate initially brings notes of chilli flakes, ginger and honey, before chocolate-covered coffee beans join the fray. Soft tendrils of peat smoke appear, flanked by orange peel, walnuts and leafy, green herbs.

In from Port Ellen Maltings on Islay, Ledaig’s malt is lightly peated to 37ppm before being delivered. The water used in production flows from a private lake near the Mishnish Lochs, to the Tobermory River, flowing underneath island peat fields as it makes its way to the distillery. This combination of peated elements give Ledaig much of its character. Tasting Notes: No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. You are responsible for all activities through your account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide to us in relation to your account, and for updating it where necessary. You are not allowed to create multiple accounts. We may terminate or temporarily suspend your account to protect you, ourselves or our partners from (suspected) identity theft or other (suspected) fraudulent (e.g. false, misleading, deceptive) activity. You have the obligation to keep your login credentials confidential. You shall not authorize any others to use or access your account. Rich, bold and smoky, peat works its way into every nook and cranny it can find, making it hard to produce both peated and unpeated spirit at the distillery. Still, for six months each year Tobermory produces heavily-peated single malt, and they call it Ledaig. What does it taste like?

We may, but are not under any obligation, to release new functionalities and tools or other features for the Service every now and then. Any new functionalities, tools and features shall be part of and governed by the Terms from the moment they are launched and/or available. Further, we reserve the right to modify, change, discontinue the Service, add or remove features, update the Service, change its appearance, temporarily and permanently, at any time, in whole or any part thereof. Ledaig 18 Year Old spent the first 16 years of its life in ex-bourbon casks before a final two years in sherry casks, which impart layers of sweet fruit and soft spice that complement the island character. The Tobermory distillery was reopened once again in 1979 and this time distilled two separate spirits, peated Ledaig and unpeated Tobermory. These years, as for all distilleries, were years of change. Production methods were rapidly modernising, paving the way for the mass production of malt whisky. Finish: Sea salt crystals and bold peat smoke linger in the finish, as well as roasted coffee beans, seaweed and tobacco. If we decide not to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms, such decision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Ledaig (pronounced: led-CHIG) A peated whisky distilled at Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, Ledaig was for a long time one of the most inconsistent spirits for whisky lovers. Ledaig was first produced in 1972, when the Tobermory distillery was reopened after more than four decades of silence, and is the name given to all peated malt produced at the Tobermory distillery.The character of Ledaig from the late seventies and early eighties can often contain some very attractive tropical and green fruit notes, laced with some peat oils and delicate smokiness. The best examples of this era include the old red label 20-year-old and blue label 15-year-old official bottlings.
