I’ve chosen Unifi for Access Points, but this is a good comparison and these devices are still relevant. In terms of placement, keep the satellite (s) a reasonable distance — between 40 feet (13m) and 75 feet (25m) — from the primary router.

Media Server provides multimedia service for you to browse and play multimedia content located on your Synology Router via DLNA home devices. For temporary visitors, you can set up a guest network with limited, timed access to ensure your personal Wi-Fi network remains safe and prevents unauthorized access. What's most important, in either case, everyone sure will benefit from the router's built-in security and other valuable features. I thought I was doing the right thing as my house has plaster/lath walls and its like living in a Faraday Cage. For those who take advantage of impressive 4 g or 5G mobile routers for work, the fact you can simply connect this router to the Synology RT2600ac or MR2200ac as your current Internet connection, or as an emergency failover, is hugely beneficial and is a feature that is weirdly absent from a number of other router releases in 2020/2021 and their manufacturer’s software. As I previously said, the MR2200ac Mesh router can be used as a normal router and can easily replace an RT2600ac because it has the exact same functions and the exact same operating system that I talked about extensively in my previous review. I am not sure if recent Window 10 firmware upgrade could have contributed to my slow download speed but non of technician from Spectrum could help me with that. To be honest I’m thinking of putting back the RT as I found out that the UDM is not a direct replacement of a USG and there are features that aren’t available via CLI.

You can skip the MR2200ac and use a few (outdoor) access points, like the one mentioned here — you can ignore the controller. It doesn’t offer gigabit+ or Wifi-6E, but I don’t really have any computing hardware or clients that would take advantage of that extra bandwidth (plus I imagine that 6E would have even more problems reaching the far corners of my house). My thought was to put a RT2600ac where there are two internet sources, and then run CAT 6 cable 150 ft to their cafeteria (building 13), where I’d put in an MR2200ac, then run another CAT 6 cable 150 ft to the volunteer dorms (building 10), put another MR2200ac there, and work my way mostly in a star configuration, but in one case I might have to chain 3 of the MR2200ac. I’m of the understanding, as I will be wired backhauling anyways (single cat6 port in every room), the additional bandwith 160mhz of the XT9 is not a notable benefit over the rt6600ax?My home has only few devices; 1 of Samsung Note 10+, 1 of Samsung S10 Plus, 1 iPhone X, 1 iPhone 8, 2 laptop, 2 ipad and 2 Smart TV.
