About this deal

What to expect: Brick Architect is committed to respecting your personal data and privacy, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. The newly released Empire State Building immediately caught my attention when it was announced earlier this year. The included booklet contains information about the designer, architecture and history of the structure, as well as historical facts about the Empire State Building and its architectural heritage. Brickset, the Brickset logo and all content not covered by The LEGO Group's copyright is, unless otherwise stated, ©1997-2024 Brickset ltd. As a close up photo of the model, it doesn’t look that great as you can see all of the studs underneath.

Construction of the building began on March 17, 1930, and just one year and 45 days later, on May 1, 1931, it was opened for business. There was another version of the Empire State Building in the New York skyline set (21028) that LEGO released. The outer shell of this model was entirely built using SNOT and the scale worked out to be 2x that of the official set (and half that of my big custom version – which would make it around 3 feet tall if built using real pieces).Elevate your LEGO building skills to a higher level with this LEGO Architecture Empire State Building (21046) set. Display, protect, and admire your builds in style, turning your favorite LEGO® set into captivating centerpieces for all to appreciate. The very clever SNOT techniques used to clad the facade of the model with 1×2 grille tiles make the building process very interesting (albeit a bit tedious).

This case is flat-packed, made from 3mm acrylic and assembled by screwing together the front and back acrylic panels with the sides, using 12 screws provided. By creating such a large model, the design team was able to more accurately capture the intricate stepped setback design of the real building than in previous .Elevate your LEGO building skills to a higher level with this LEGO Architecture 21046 Empire State Building set Located at the heart of New York City, the Empire State Building towers above the surrounding skyscrapers. The opinions in this article are strictly my own—providing sets for review does not guarantee a positive review. I was shocked to see that the set includes 684 of them, which is more than ⅓ of the 1767 pieces included in the set! The core uses some interesting building techniques, and you're not constantly bogged down aligning tiny 1x1 pieces, so it's a pleasant and relatively quick experience, despite all the grille . Many of the 1×2 grille tiles are attached using just one stud, which makes it harder to ensure that they are all aligned perfectly.

It doesn’t have the finer tuning of Spencer’s model but has enough so that it is highly distinguishable as the ESB. My daughter who helped me build my custom model of the Empire State Building also happened to build the most recent official version (set 21046). The Empire State Building was also included in the initial 2016 wave for a new LEGO Architecture subtheme: Skylines. The piece count of just the outer shell was starting to push 10000 pieces and I hadn’t even worked on the inner core. The tiled baseplate depicts Fifth Avenue and surrounding roads complete with yellow cabs, and the model is finished with a decorative nameplate.
