The events on Skull Island had me feeling quite sorry for Kong as he monotonously fought off new creature after creature at each turn of the page with no sign of a reprieve. King Kong is my favourite character, he is misunderstood by the western world and appears to them as a terrifying monster, perhaps because that is all they are willing to see him as. In reality, he is gentle and caring and suffers from fear, anxiety, pain and loss (and many other emotions), just like we do.

A landing party, including the filmmaker and his leading lady, goes ashore and encounters the natives, who are about to hand over a girl to Kong as a ritual sacrifice.Ann Darrow has a Marilyn Monroe appearance but I didnt find Kong scary enough, although the illustrations are very detailed.

Taken from the only land he ever knew and stuck into manacles in loud, brassy New York City, he becomes the hero. Up ahead in a jungle clearing, Kong places Ann in a high cleft of a dead upright tree, then goes back and confronts his pursuers as they are walking along the top of an enormous fallen tree trunk over a deep ravine. This makes a lovely gift and a good addition to any child’s bookshelf, which will appeal to a wide age range. Weakened and unable to hold on to the building, he gazes sadly at Ann one last time, before he loses his grip, and plummets to his death in the street below. The violent fight between the two titans ends when Kong pries open the dinosaur's jaw until it breaks. However, the events in between the action scenes focused on some of the not-so-important elements of the story that would generally not interest children.
