There is so much focus on side character storylines that I find myself more interested in what’s happening there vs. The Coldbreath series [Vawdrey, Brides of Karadok, and Prizefighters] are something I’m currently reading and rereading obsessively. This is a work of fiction and any names, characters, events, or organisations are either a product of my imagination or used fictitiously. I ended up disliking Konrad much more than I thought I would and that affected my enjoyment severely.

It was a brisk, blustery March day, made chillier by the fact that she was standing down at the fishing h. Still I’m not sure I’ll read the next book anytime soon, Sir Jefferee sounds like a stuck up virginal prude and Sabrina comes across as a bitter, mean widow. It isn't my favorite book of the series but it's fine and we get to see our other couples from the series. It’s difficult to put into words why I love this book, when all my brain and heart want to do is flail from pillar to post exclaiming that I love it, but I shall endeavour to be more articulate than that. Any idealistic dreams of youth Kentigern once had were lost long ago in battle, when he was disfigured and blinded in one eye.

The red pox sweeps the summer palace at Caer-Lyones and Lenora’s fair face falls victim to its ravages. His injuries from the war were honestly something no one cared about, and I think deep down he knew, but he wanted an excuse to be a bitter, disgruntled excuse of a man. Thrice wedded, but never bedded, Mathilde Martindale has long lived in the shadow of her indomitable mother, and meekly done as she was told.Aimee is the daughter of the riches merchant in Karadok and while at a tournament her eyes land on the heavily scarred Lord Kentigern and she falls in love. What's up with the characters from other books appearing in this one quite frequently and prominently?

This begins a series of misunderstandings and miscommunications between Aimee and Kentigern, with some serious blunders on his part. When heiress Hastings Trent is joined with warrior Severin Langthorne in marriage, she must uncover the mystery surrounding a secluded estate known as Rosehaven. Aimee was so sweet and not as meek as I expected her to be, I loved the way she cared for those around her but was also able to stand up for herself against those people.Side note: I loved Oswald the most followed by Garman, Mason, Roland, and Armand with all my little heart. Now I know Miss coldbreath can churn out a good plot, just take her book, A bride for the prizefighter as an example, and I also know she can really goes into detail writing about the character’s mundane, day to day lives, and that can be fun too…if there is also a plot, just like there was in a A Bride for the Prizefighter. Note- At one point I decided I am not rating it at all but after spending my time and patience on 400 pages of a book, it felt wrong. One she had instilled in not just him but her household staff, her soldiers under her command as a general, and all his siblings. I enjoyed it a great deal and added an extra star just because I think AC is one of the best writing (pseudo)historicals today--and I loved the quick cameos of characters from other books (including one yet to come!

Gabriel Fairchild's valor during battle earns him the reputation of hero, but costs him both his sight and his hope for the future. If you're looking for a mellow romance novel with an actual plot that's not overbearing with raw smut, this is the one. He liked barging into places where he hadn’t been invited, knowing he was too rich for anyone to dare throw him out.SHORTLISTED FOR THE WOOLLAHRA DIGITAL LITERARY AWARDS 2017 Companions are the kingdom’s most beautiful and educated women—possessions of Syrasan’s royal men.
