This edition features the classic story with a stunning, redesigned cover and beautiful finish, making it a must-have addition to the bookshelves of all Donaldson and Scheffler fans - big and small!

Based on the original book Charlie Cook Favourite Book – written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.Yoto Says: A dizzying adventure that immerses us in a book inside a book inside a book… all for the love of stories! Our shows for this age group have storylines that can be followed and enjoyed by 3-4-year olds, but may also use slightly more complex ideas, humour, dialogue or song lyrics that older children will get more out of.

There are eleven different books in this story, and my first idea was to have eleven different illustrators – one for each book-within-a-book!In addition to the modern classic, THE GRUFFALO (0 333 71093 2), her most recent collaborations with Axel Scheffler include THE SNAIL AND THE WHALE (0 333 98224 X) and THE GRUFFALO'S CHILD (1 405 02046 6). Julia Donaldson has written some of the world's best-loved children's books, including modern classics The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child, illustrated by Axel Scheffler, which together have sold over 25 million copies worldwide and have been translated into over one hundred languages.

Charlie Cook is reading a book about a pirate captain, who is reading a book about Goldilocks, who is reading about a knight, who is reading about a frog . This was the last book In the Julia Donaldson series I brought my grandson , they love them and are so well illustrated … as is this one . I wanted all the books to look very different - in different styles - but in the end there wasn't enough time to work that out (may be I would have failed anyway).Charlie Cook's Favourite Book is both entertaining and original - a sure-fire winner from the unparalleled picture-book partnership of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo. They have brought many of my books to life on stage, and they do so creatively whilst remaining faithful to the books. This isn’t an interactive show, but we always welcome vocal responses from young audiences, and you can join in by clapping along to the songs. Her other books include The Hospital Dog illustrated by Sara Ogilvie, The Christmas Pine illustrated by Victoria Sandøy and the hugely successful What the Ladybird Heard adventures illustrated by Lydia Monks.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. All ages are welcome at our shows and age ranges can only be a rough guide, but please bear in mind that Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book was not specially designed for under-threes. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations. Axel Scheffler has achieved worldwide acclaim for his humorous illustrations, which are published in over 30 countries. The only difficult bit is the fact that the images contain text such as a leaflet or news paper article so it had to be explained that it wasn't part of the story. A show aimed at two-year olds would have some differences – those shows are carefully made to hold their attention for the duration, and not to be unsettling for them. But the publisher thought that would be too complicated, and Axel has done a great job making each book look different. She was the UK Children’s Laureate 2011–13 and has been honoured with a CBE for Services to Literature.
