In the online book, Rowley is said to own a PlayStation with 42 games. However, in the movie, Rowley is shown to have a Wii, meaning that he possibly upgraded his console. Holly makes a cameo in The Ugly Truth talking to some of her friends, and this is her most recent appearance in the books, though she was shown in a chart Greg drew in The Third Wheel as one of the many girls interested in Bryce Anderson. Although much of Greg’s character is to a degree obnoxious, he does have a number of redeeming features, and his character flaws have become less well-defined as the series has progressed. He is now starting to show signs of maturing into somewhat of a likeable young man as he starts to take responsibility for many of his misdeeds and character flaws. Rowley Jefferson For many, Rowley (Want to come over to my house and play?) Jefferson, Greg Heffley’s best friend, is the real hero of the series. A character shaped by his over-protective parents who are certainly not fond of Greg, Rowley is a skilled manipulator who often gets others into trouble while craftily avoiding the blame himself. Initially coming across as somewhat of an immature idiot, he often displays Jekyll and Hyde-like characteristics, being able to move effortlessly from antagonist to caring peacemaker. At first sight the overweight and overly-protected innocent, first impressions prove deceptive, as he often shows real strength of character when in stressful situations. Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2007 print book, 2010 movie) Franklin Wayne "Frank" Heffley Jr. is depicted to be Greg's overreactive but well-meaning father. He is about 42 years old and is interested in U.S. history, with his replica of a Civil War battlefield serving as a recurring plot point in the series. [2] In the books, Frank despises Rowley, [2] and does not appreciate Greg's skill at video games. He is also shown to loathe heavy metal [1] and adolescents. [3] Frank tries to toughen Greg up and threatens to send him to a military academy in The Last Straw, although ultimately this does not come to fruition, much to Greg's relief. [3] However, Greg and Frank grow together in Dog Days, despite a brief period when Frank does not speak to Greg after almost getting arrested and going to jail.

He is often seen as an anti-hero/antagonist in the book series, but is a true hero in the movies. Rowley usually gets blamed for Greg's mischievous pranks. Despite his idiotic behavior, Rowley always wishes the best for everyone, and is a very nice, thoughtful and innocent kid. In the 2017 adaptation of The Long Haul, the Heffleys gained the pig in a similar way to the 9th book. After causing havoc in a hotel room, and nearly leaping onto a busy highway, the Heffleys decide to get rid of the pig by donating it to a petting zoo, much to Manny's dismay. Later on, when Manny can speak fluent Spanish, he directs a helpful towing company to the petting zoo, reuniting him with the pig.

Greg Heffley

Lenwood "Lenny" Heath only appears in The Last Straw. He is a rebellious teenager, who was Frank's arch-enemy for about three months before he was sent to military academy. This resulted in him becoming a fine young man who works at the movie theater. Frank now admires Lenny,

In Double Down, Gary accidentally breaks his collarbone while cutting down tree branches over his driveway.Terrence Heffley is Frank's second cousin and the eldest son of Charlie who is said to have looked like Greg when he was his age. Greg confirms this by looking in Gammie's photo album and strives to save money for plastic surgery. Cecil is Greg's adopted uncle who is only three or four years old. He was adopted by Great Aunt Marcie, and Greg often feels awkward around Cecil, due to the fact that he gets privileges such as sitting at the adult's table at family gatherings, despite his young age.

Charlie has appeared in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Last Straw, Dog Days, The Ugly Truth, and Cabin Fever. Loretta Heffley [ edit ] Christopher "Chris" Brownfield is one of Greg's friends and is shown to have been a great mosquito magnet while hanging out with Greg in the summer. However, Greg does not see him as a close friend because he is "not a school-year friend". Later in The Ugly Truth, he is on Greg's team for a game and hides behind a soda machine after the teachers threaten to call all of their parents. Darren Walsh is a minor character who is only mentioned in the original book. He is the boy who starts the Cheese Touch game in Westmore Middle School after intentionally touching a piece of cheese in the school's playground wherein everyone starts running away and avoiding him, becoming an outcast until he passes it to the next student. A DIARY OF A WIMPY KID STORY that will have you rolling with laughter, from number one bestselling author Jeff Kinney! Joshie is a European singer (possibly British) who is Rowley's favorite idol. Greg believes that Joshie is for six-year-old girls, but Rowley ignores him, saying that Greg is jealous because he was the one who "discovered" Joshie. However, despite Rowley's opinion, Joshie appears to be a singer that is mainly idolized by females (specifically 6-year-old girls).Rowley is an immature boy in several ways. For example, he sleeps with his stuffed toys, he likes his Dinoblazer Action Figures and he even quit writing his popular comic, Zoo-Wee Mama!, because he needed time to play with his Dinoblazer Action Figures. He also likes a singer called Joshie, whose audience is young children, mainly girls. On Christmas, he gets many childish things, even giving Greg childish toys like a Big Wheel. In the second film, he got very scared after watching a horror movie called " The Foot," and had to get his parents to take him home. In the film series, Rowley is portrayed by Robert Capron in the first three films, Owen Asztalos in The Long Haul, and Ethan William Childress in the animated films. In The Ugly Truth, when Greg brags to his classmates about his family hiring a maid, Chirag says that his family does not need a maid and is glad that his mother is there when he comes home from school. Later in the book, he gets invited to Jordan Jury's party, only to discover that he and other kids in his grade are being used as servants.

Preston Mudd is one of Greg's classmates. He is said to have been the best player in the basketball unit of gym class during sixth grade at Westmore Middle School. Unfortunately, when his name was displayed as "P. Mudd" on the athlete of the month poster, this led to his classmates making fun of him, calling him "Pee Mud". Joseph "Joe" Heffley is Frank's brother and Greg's uncle. Frank has a sibling rivalry with Joe due to his actions. When Manny started potty training, Uncle Joe told him to watch out for the "potty monster", causing him to fear using the bathroom, forcing Frank to change his diapers for a longer period. Joe's children call their uncle "Aunt Fwank", which Frank swears he told them to do on purpose. Susan thinks it is cute, though. In Dog Days, Greg mentions that he tried to make Joe convince Frank to get a dog, but that did not work out. He also mentions that Joe's dog, Killer, ate most of his birthday cake.
