Description

I had a transit connect which I hardwired with the wires routed passenger side, DAB stopped working and the FM was weaker than usual. This means on the maximum 128GB that the dashcam can utilise you’re looking at over 9 1/2 hours of full resolution, Dual-File footage - that’s pretty impressive and should cover for most scenarios. After reading your post, I've noticed that my radio signal is better, now that my dashcam has gone in for repair. You can also retrospectively protect or unprotect files very easily in the gallery mode by, again, simply tapping the red shield. Originally I bought the rear camera that plugs into the 512, but found this spoilt the resolution of the front camera.

Market leading thanks to its connective capabilities and ease of use, the 412GW has been rated the Which?I’ve not even mentioned the great Wifi feature, essentially, once App is downloaded to your iOS or Android phone/tablet you can connect to the CAM and perform file management and Live viewing from your car seat (not driving of course) … not sure how often I personally would use this, but could be helpful if I wanted to see how many Facebook ‘Likes’ I could get for beating the Stig around the Top Gear track.

It’s far quicker and easier to simply plug the dash camera or SD Card into a computer, rather than connecting via a smartphone. The 412GW uses six-element sharp lenses, made up of 6 layers of glass, providing a 140° viewing angle able to capture the entire road ahead. I’ve tested the 412GW in daylight, bright sunlight, twilight, rain, darkness and everywhere in between and the results have been consistently positive.

As well as the map, you also see the recorded speed, heading, acceleration and various other facts and figures. There are different types of software that can be used with the 412GW - the desktop software and the mobile/smartphone software.

On the other hand, if you’re keen to record extremely high-quality, clear footage - for example, if you live in a busy town and are prone to encountering hazardous situations - then the extra cash isn't too much of a push. The Dual-Files are are treated as a single file on the device so if you delete a video then both the hi-res and lor-res copies are removed, likewise for protecting the files.

Either of these options will ensure that you have clear, high quality video evidence of any incident that occurs. The quick-release system means the camera can be set up in the ideal place and then, if it needs to be taken out of sight, the mount can be left in place and the camera removed. A larger memory card than the 16GB card provided would help alleviate the problem a bit but the fact is, protected files do actually get deleted. The DUO HD is a favourite with Taxi drivers, offering front and rear (or cab) recording simultaneously.Obviously, it does have the advantage of higher resolution and higher frame rates – but if you just want to protect yourself against bad drivers the 312GW will do the job perfectly, for less money.
