The soundstage (the size of the perceived space, in which the musicians appear to be playing) is not as big as that of the Beyerdynamic DT series headphones, but it is not always a con.

The center image is slightly forward and up in my head, and left/right separation is pleasantly natural and wide, with no hint of claustrophobia. I should have actually listend to a couple I know ) I soon moved house and could play my monitors as loud as I wanted so they had little use since. They don't leak as much as some of the other closed-back over-ears, but you may distract your colleagues at higher volumes. Plus you'll be safe in the knowledge that the person sitting on the bench next to you won't give you funny looks as you happily listen to the same 3 bar turnaround on repeat for hours on end! Aside from the slight ear warm-up and the too-strong-for-some-users clamp, there's not a comfort issue to be found here.

The Sennheiser HD280 Pro Headphones are designed for professional monitoring and critical listening applications. Also at the higher end of the spectrum, the aforementioned Yamaha PRO 500 offers deep bass and an excellent overall response. However, as we explore the HD280 Pro in this review, we’ll also shed light on some potential issues that may challenge their revered status. Its impedance of 64 Ohms means that, depending on your sound source, it may not get brain-meltingly loud (but this is a good thing). The wired connection of these headphones has negligible latency which is suitable for gaming and home-theater use.

Overall, the Audio-Technica offer better value and are one of the best critical listening headphones we’ve reviewed so far. I've had no issues throwing them into my laptop bag, and they're robust enough and cheap enough that I don't mind their lack of included case. Unfortunately didn't find what I was looking for, so I bought a Sennheiser HD 280 Pro half an year ago from pure curiosity. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO are better neutral listening headphones than the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro 2016. The unique collapsible design, combined with swiveling ear cups, offers maximum flexibility in any application. And thanks to their comfort, all those hours spent in front of a screen won’t tire your ears nearly as much as it will your eyes. Response extends from 8Hz to 25kHz, the neodymium magnets coupled to a feather-light diaphragm produces a sound that cheaper models cannot achieve. Claimed as the most significant closed, around-the-ear headphones to be introduced in recent memory, the HD 280 features a robust construction combined with excellent sound quality that exceeds professional demand.

So, while these aren’t perfect studio headphones by any standards, they’re good enough for most scenarios. The Audio-Technica ATH-M40x and the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro 2016 are both decently neutral-sounding closed-back headphones. What that means is that it helps me through school and I get all the perks (and downfalls) that entails. They seem to isolate outside noise even better than the industrial foam earplugs I use for sleeping. Rap may not reproduce well, but I adhere to the idea that "rap crap" isn't music so I didn't test them, but I can say for sure that these headphones pounded on Depeche Mode's "Wrong". There, you’ll find a comprehensive guide to some of the top choices available, helping you make an informed decision for your professional audio needs.

They are made from high quality plastic, the sound isolation is brilliant and the sound is very detailed. These are the headphones you would want to use if you were mixing music or other audio and need completely uncolored sound.

But it would be a welcome update on Sennheiser's part, as a detachable cable can extend the life of your headphones significantly. It is not difficult to see why they were soon coveted as the ultimate alternative monitoring headphone for recordists and DJs alike due to their light weight. If the adaptiveness issues were not as detrimental, there would be a great potential for them to be a great tool for numerous tasks. Even some crucial parts that are strained quite a bit, like the can ball joint or the size adjustment are made from plastic. The earpads are manufactured with velour finish, and a single side access, removable 3m coiled cable can be replaced with the included 1.
