For guitar a bit of reverb as standard, and then chorus on about 20% if i want a nice jangly 12 string tone, and on a couple picking tracks a bit of chorus / delay. The specially designed looper in the Boss VE-8 sounds great and is ready to support your performance whenever you need it. It says its connected but when I go to record through microphone or guitar through the Boss it wont record. I found that I would consistently get the harmonies I was looking for with the Play Acoustic, which wasn’t always the case with the other pedals.

Stereo XLR balanced outputs provide a direct feed to the house PA, while stereo 1/4-inch outputs let you send a separate signal to stage monitors or an acoustic amp. Andertons Music Company is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, firm registration number 716155. I think this is a good pedal overall, but I found that it just can’t really compare to the Play Acoustic or VE-8. I bought mine new when they first came out, sold the TC version, but worked out everything on my own.

Perhaps they may not feel as responsive, but I’ve never had any issues thinking I hit a foot switch when I did not. IMO, the Aura system still sounds pretty darn good - at least as far as direct plug-in systems, it seems to sound the most full and natural to me overall, even as they keep coming out with new ways to mount mics and pickups and things, the AURA still sounds about as good as a "plugged in" acoustic can I suppose. Still, with the pitch correction, reverb, voice double and harmonies, my singing actually sound reasonably good (to me). Regardless, the midi inputs and outputs have nothing to do with attempting to record audio from the ve8 thru usb.

The harmonies with this pedal are also generally bright and, when playing with a stereo setup, spread well and wide in the mix. If you want to hear the Boss in action, I recorded my solo acoustic version of "When The War Is Over" by Australian band Cold Chisel. With the Boss VE-8’s grab-and-go panel controls, it’s simple to dial in sounds and settings as you play. Of course, you can save your own presets to the memory, but adjust and tweaking these at a later time is a huge pain with the physical knobs.

I'm not a looper but the one on the VE-8 is lame by looper standards, and I hear not just because of its limited length. As I said, "There's nothing wrong with it (the VE-8), but I'm just saying it's not the only choice out there. TC-Helicon's Play Acoustic targets acoustic guitar and vocal in a single pedal, and Boss is doing likewise with the VE-8 Acoustic Singer, which boasts separate effect sections for voice and guitar, and throws in a looper for good measure. A touch of reverb, an occasional "chorus" setting for variety, these things are very easy, for this easily annoyed player.I utilize the harmonies and love the guitar features on VE-8, but don’t see how this will continue to work. These are smushed together but the top graphic is from the VE-8 manual, bottom is back of the Ditto.

What's more, all these great features are housed within a highly durable chassis, built to withstand all the trials of life on the road. I like a lot the guitar sound in how it takes away the quack, just like the Aura Spectrum and also the acoustic resonance, easy change to give your more sparkle, mids or body. Likewise, you can also get a good vocal tone with the BOSS VE-8, but I found it to be far less flexible than the other pedals. The specially designed looper in the VE-8 sounds great and is ready to support your performance whenever you need it.There’s also a nice vocal doubling effect, a useful feature for adding fullness and presence to your voice as needed.
