Description

Group 1: Equipment has intentionally generated and/or uses conductively-coupled radio frequency energy that is necessary for the internal function of the equipment itself. Frequency is AC coupled, 5 Hz to 50 kHz for AC voltage. Frequency is DC coupled, 45 Hz to 5 kHz for AC current. Proving units can be used to satisfy elements of the 2018 edition of NFPA 70E 110.4E, which states, "When test instruments are used for testing the absence of voltage on conductors or circuit parts operating at voltages equal to or greater than 50 volts, the operation of the test instrument shall be verified on any known voltage source before and after an absence of voltage test is performed." Emissions that exceed the levels required by CISPR 11 can occur when the equipment is connected to a test object.

The Fluke PRV240 proving unit provides a safe method to verify that your electrical test tool is operating properly before you conduct any live tests. The concept of “Test Before Touch” (TBT) involves testing your meter against a known live source before and after the actual measurement. This sequence verifies that your test tool is operating properly during the actual measurement. Here is how to verify the operation of an electrical test tool at 240 VAC or 240 VDC with the Fluke PRV240: Accuracy [1]: ± ( [ % of reading] + [number of least significant digits] ). Accuracy is specified for 1 year after calibration, at 18 °C to 28 °C (64 °F to 82 °F) with relative humidity to 90 %. AC conversions are ac-coupled, RMS responding.

Provides a safe method to verify that your electrical test tool is operating properly before you conduct further tests. The concept of "Test Before Touch" (TBT) or three point test method involves testing your meter against a known live source before and after the actual measurement. This sequence verifies that your test tool is operating properly during the actual measurement. As we know the proving units are portable making them easy to transport and use in many environments, however, there are many varieties of proving units to accommodate the vast voltage ranges of electrical equipment. For example, low voltage proving units such as the Martindale PD240 can test voltages up to 240V, great for residential appliances. If you need something capable of testing high voltage testers, then the Martindale PD690 kit is a great option by testing voltages from 12V to 700V and with a proving unit accompanied by a voltage tester in a neat carry pouch.

On the PRV240FS, a single switch and a set of LEDs indicate functionality of both standard AC and DC measurements with test leads, and FieldSense, “no-test-lead” voltage measurement capability. This unit is a simple-to-use solution for complying with verification procedures of your test tools. Caution: This equipment is not intended for use in residential environments and may not provide adequate protection to radio reception in such environments.See voltage or current display – shows all power supply measurements at a glance for efficient trouble shooting All AC voltage ranges except Auto-V/LoZ are specified from 1% to 100% of range. Auto-V/LoZ is specified from 0.0 V.
