It can take a while to get used to which button does what, but once you’re familiar with the layout, the buttons feel tactile and are much more accurate than touch sensors. They're weighty, with thick heavy padding along the headband and ears, and buttons as well as sliders that make it easy to change the volume, pair, power up and run other features all by just touching the ears. You can still hear those, but the enormous dose of bass from the Crusher mode makes this song sound more modern. The plastic looks sleek enough, but I noticed that it was particularly susceptible to fingerprints and scratches during testing.

Plus the addition of ANC also means there’s a hit to the battery life - up to 24 hours instead of 30 of the Crusher 360. You can also repeat this when powered on by pressing the orange button for 1 second instead, but it’s easier to turn off the headphones instead of accidentally. Look, just because the Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 looks like it's for grown ups doesn't mean it still doesn't have a bonkers amount of bass. Skull-iQ Smart Feature Technology® lets you choose from five different languages to control audio functions like play, pause, next track, volume and even Crusher Bass level using only your voice.

Each earcup houses vibration motors that activate in time with the music’s bass notes to create a more visceral audio experience by adding physical sensations to auditory ones. The right earcup houses the music playback and volume controls as well as the USB-C charging port and 3. Don’t let the focus on bass put you off if you listen to other genres though, as the Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 handles them well.

There is also a Phone App you can use to suit your needs with these and create your own music setup for these which is also cool. So it’s all standard so far, even if you have to look into the small manual several times to make sure everything goes smoothly. The memory foam ear pads feel quite comfortable, and while they do warm up, it’s no more than average. Different, depending on whether you’re using a cable connection, if ANC is on or deactivated, and whether the personalised hearing profiles are enabled.Under the lid it continues to convince with a dark grey fabric case serving as a safe home for the foldable headphones, accompanying mini jack and USB charging cable. I couldn’t hear every single thing he was doing or him talking to me, but I could hear rustles of packets, clinks of spoons and cupboard doors shutting. However, somebody considering the Crusher ANC 2 probably is less concerned about these deviations than another person looking at, say, studio headphones.

I’ve been using the headphones for a couple of weeks now, on and off, and have only managed to get the battery down to 70%. Crusher ANC 2 is loaded with everything you love about Crusher – Personal Sound and Crusher Bass that is so perfect, we had it patented.Been using it for almost 10 hours give or take and it still says 50% as it was when I first took them off the box so I'm guessing they really go the 50 hours they advertising. I own a JBL Elite 750NC headphone and I think its overall sound is a little better, altough the bass is a little inferior.

The Bost QuietComfort 45 headphones, for example, are a great alternative because they offer best-in-class noise cancellation and provide more enjoyable (but still bass-forward) audio, though at a considerable extra cost. Simply put, Skullcandy's ANC implementation doesn't come close to that of the Bose QC45 headphones in either of the above tests. The onboard mics are pretty decent, and they filter out environmental sounds well, although the mic’s response curve and noise rejection favor lower voices. Skullcandy actually employs two sets of drivers—the 40mm dynamic drivers we mentioned above and a pair of haptic drivers that produce vibrations (much like passive bass radiators on Bluetooth speakers) in concert with frequencies between roughly 10Hz and 150Hz. Walking along a busy road, the Crusher ANC 2 cut out a respectable level of the background droning, but those tricky higher pitches still managed to worm their way through.
