Today in the hands of the fifth and sixth generation of the Grant family they remain, through tradition and experience, committed to creating the best quality Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky in Speyside. The Glenfarclas 30 Year Old 180 Years In Production released was in 2016 to mark 180 years of production at Glenfarclas, this edition is rich with notes of marzipan, icing, coffee and burnt chocolate. There it combines with the finest malted barley to provide a mash which is then twice distilled in traditional, direct fired, copper pot stills – the largest in Speyside. Speyside is the principal whisky-producing region: Speyside has within it some forty-six operating distilleries - over half the total number in the entire Scotland. This refill sherry hogshead was chosen to represent the very best of the vintage, a perfect expression of the distillery character.

The whisky follows the distillery's signature style of solely Oloroso sherry cask maturation, but achieves a drier, spicier and altogether more robust profile through the use of only Eupoean Oak (Quercus Robur). Further, we reserve the right to modify, change, discontinue the Service, add or remove features, update the Service, change its appearance, temporarily and permanently, at any time, in whole or any part thereof. The oak flashes and just before it becomes too uncomfortably bitter, it dissolves into a herbal candy that makes Ricola look old.
