I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes memoir-style books, light-hearted reads about parenting young children, and anyone who is a fan of Meet the Richardsons. If anyone was sick or recovering from anything from surgery to a broken heart you could count on her to bring you a quart of cold Boiled Custard.

Another note, I failed to mention, she made meringue cookies out of the egg whites and they were served with the custard … hence no waste.I had wondered how often he would chime in and was worried it might be a bit too often but actually there are only the occasional few lines which added to the humour nicely! Maybe other readers identified with the content, but I don't find individual children anywhere near as interesting as their parents do. There’s the changes in conversations from Homes Under The Hammer exchanged to Paw Patrol and Bing etc. Lucy’s voice is warm and relatable, and I couldn’t help hearing it in her voice as I read, and the corrections and clarifications from Jon Richardson set the tone early on. Told in seven parts Lucy and her husband Jon embark on the adventure of parenthood with their adorable but terrifying toddler Elsie.

Her mother used to turn up at her school and pretend to be the queen and once hid in a bush to check she was ok. Publishers, authors, blog tour organisers kindly entrust me with books, in-exchange of an honest review. Beaumont also admits that she lives a privileged lifestyle as her “husband is on the television” so financially is secure and both of their occupations do not include commuting or the need for expensive childcare. I try to serve for my warm beverage, a mulled wine with a lightly Spiced apple juice w/those cinnamon candies you decorate cakes with turns the juice a bit pink/red) for the kids. Like when Lucy was hospitalised during her third trimester with chest pains but it turned out to be a burrito.

If you were diagnosed with type 2 this year, you would be going through your first Christmas without boiled custard. Lucy Beaumont is a stand up comedian and tv personality with one of the most identifiable voices there is!

You could also try heating it again until it’s thicker–beat in an additional couple egg yolks, or even a whole egg first, if you’d like. I love to see and congratulate success, as with their TV work - I don’t like it forced on my eyes or down my throat. It is hilarious, contains some great recipes and will make you smile remembering your family friends. From when Lucy was hospitalised with indigestion in her third trimester (blame the burrito), to when she was *this close* to slapping her hypnobirthing instructor, to fi nding herself drinking a whole pint of custard in one sitting. Though I suspect if you are and you're not sure if it's going well or not, then this book will help you to realise that there is no right or wrong. If you want a honest, funny, witty portrayal of what it’s like to be a parent then you have to read this book! The Mother and Baby Massage class, I strongly agree with her, it should be a class where the mothers get a lovely relaxing massage.

However, I am a fan of Meet The Richardsons (a part-fictional show about Lucy's life with her husband, comedian Jon Richardson), so decided to give this a read.

The next goes on to her meeting and getting together with Jon, who adds “interruptions” through the book. For those amid the battlefields of baby sleep deprivation, for those who remember it well, and even for those considering it, this is an entertaining and engaging read. I do like Lucy and Jon as a couple (heard them on Parenting Hell etc) but I didn’t feel that his interruptions were required. We get to know Lucy as a real person, as a real mum, with all the pleasures and difficulties of real life. Or the efforts she made to infiltrate the local mums’ social groups and when she embarrassingly forgot her own new-born baby’s name!
