Description

Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator is an easy to use, compact solution for common audio problems faced in the field and in the studio. While they are incredible microphones, every step of your recording chain needs to be appropriately managed. All of our products are new unless stated and come with a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 3-year warranty as standard. Using patent pending technology that keeps the direct audio path free-and-clear of transformers, capacitors, and resistors, the CL-1 houses discrete JFET circuitry that delivers world class, ultra-clean gain while preserving the natural sonic characteristics of the source.

If you’ve noticed your recordings are very quiet or that turning the gain up makes them very noisy, an in-line gain booster like the CL-1 Cloudlifter can help you out.

One thing about the Cloudlifter became clear in this situation; if the mic itself is inherently noisy, the Cloudlifter is going to amplify that noise along with the desired signal. I made sure that New MIDI Track was selected as well as Session Start, so that the MIDI track would line up perfectly with the original audio track.

Its patent-pending technology ensures that the direct audio path remains free from transformers, capacitors and resistors. The Cloudlifter CL-1 provides up to +25dB of gain that partners with your preamp in amplifying your mics' signal for clean, transparent recordings. I do wonder if that disparity is by design to emphasis the clartity of the gain in the right PAD mode? The CL-1 appears to be well-built, in a hefty little metal box a little smaller than an average passive DI box. The HPF certainly does add more possibilities, but since that one knob is effectively dual function now, you can't really use it the same way as a typical filter.I use dynamic microphones like the Shure SM7B and RE20 to cope better with unavoidable equipment noise and outside/traffic noise that I otherwise need a sound booth to eliminate. And while it lacks the extreme peakiness that is common to some inexpensive condensers, it has a much bigger boost at 10kHz than does the SM7B. These areas include (but are not limited to) Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Isles of Scilly, Jersey, Guernsey, Northern Ireland, Orkney, Scottish Highlands and Shetland. With premium electronics, the Cloudlifter's patented discrete JFET circuitry preserves the source's natural sound while keeping the direct audio path clear of transformers, capacitors, and resistors.

The truth of the matter is that not everyone needs a super-expensive microphone—chances are good that you’re not using the equipment that can best be paired with it, so the CL-1 Cloudlifter is a great way to ensure quality recording while you’re saving up for a better interface or standalone preamp. Up at full gain (100%) the mic was still showing a relatively low level (about 40%), meaning at lot of post recording boost and then mastering work to sort out the hiss and extra 'air' created. Rodger Cloud suggested that the Cloudlifter could be used to improve the sound quality of long cable runs and noisy preamps.Provides one channels of up to +25dB of ultra-clean gain and optimal impedance loading for dynamic and ribbon mics to perform their best. Considering how great the Z knob is, the lower boost setting actually allows this box to be used in even more situations, like a ribbon mic on a loud guitar amp.

Many preamps sound great until you push them, resulting in all the hiss and crackle produced by the amplifier itself ending up in the mix. This product exists mostly because there’s a strange idea out there that you absolutely need a high-end mic like the Shure SM7B or Electro-Voice RE 20 to get good sounding recordings, and that’s simply not true. For this review, I focused on two applications of the device, both using moving-coil dynamic microphones.Simply connect the CL-1 between your microphone's output and your preamp's input, then engage the +48V phantom power on the pre to kick on the CL-1's gain boost, requiring less muscle from your interface's preamp. I’ve heard enough lousy bands in enough lousy nightclubs to expect something dreadful from the pure Mackie channel.
