I became a bit more edgy when it became apparent that Lightning McQueen was not really at the centre of this film, Mater is more in the spotlight this time, and the focus is on the worldwide adventures and scrapes he gets into when he is accidentally mistaken for a spy, and meets the famous British spy car Finn McMissile.Cars 2 has high-speed chases, a couple of breakneck motor races, a kung-fu fighting sportscar, and a tow truck with a couple of Gatling guns strapped onto him. Thankfully Mater's friends are always willing to lend a helping wheel, and as the race gets underway, everyone shifts into high gear to help out an old friend. This is an exciting adventure across the world, but can Lightning improve on his Piston Cup win, or will he just sit out and trail behind, you will have to wait and find out.

It's not as if John Lasseter and some of the other folks at Pixar dreamed up a few standout setpieces and then slopped together some skeleton of a plot to stitch 'em together.
