About this deal

But since the ink is fast drying and waterproof, there is a chance that it will eventually clog the channel of the pen. I’m not sure if they were trying to emulate the look and feel of a dip pen but that’s what sprang to mind when I was using it.

I wasn’t sure that I’d like the length of it but once I was working with the pen, I forgot all about it. I got these 3 fountain pens recently and this is my review on how they function as pens for drawing.Get this pen or the cheaper DP-1000AN if you want to explore drawing with really needlepoint crisp lines.

The only downside I have found so far, is that the nib isn't as fine as you may expect - tested against Rotring fineliners, the line width is somewhere in the range of . Now I'm using Pelikan's Brilliant Black and although it's not as vibrant as Rotring's own ink, it still isn't bad. You can use the Platinum Carbon Ink, but do wash the pen occasionally especially if you're not using it for long periods of time. The section looks like it could be painful to grip but the pen is light and does not require a tight hold to control it. The nibs can be a little skippy on coated/smooth paper, which can be annoying, but overall they perform well. It isn't ugly, it isn't stunning it is quite functional in appearance and it did look as if it would work.

Additionally make sure your User-Agent is not empty and is something unique and descriptive and try again. The lines are clean and distinct, but smooth enough on the edges for even new users to be comfortable with. There is no flex obviously, but it provides a smooth flow which is enjoyable for sketching and writing. It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. It doesn't seem bothered what diet of ink it is fed, it just lays down ink reliably, never remember it either skipping or flooding.

My only slight concern with its feed is that I can’t reach that inner part of the feed to wash it out if ink gets caked in there. With nostalgia, with reliability, with the fact it has never let me down, despite there being pens out there worth hundreds of pounds with gold nibs etc etc etc, this for me, and has been for a large number of years my go-to pen. Following on from my (very) recent review of the CS Belliver Bracket Brown, I thought I would have a little fun and have a go at reviewing a much cheaper and much older pen from my collection pen, one that I have had in my possession for just a touch over 25 years now. If anything, the ink probably flows a little too well – by the end of my test doodle, I had an unexpected inky patch on the end of one of my fingers and I noticed that rapid strokes drawn without care will result in a more noticeable hook mark than other pens that I use.
