Description

The expansion tank is installed on the delivery side of the diaphragm water-pump, as close to the pump as is practicable. Normally this will involve cutting through the water hose that leaves the water-pump and connecting the cut end of that hose on the water-pump side to the expansion tank's inlet and the other cut end of the hose to the expansion tank's outlet. Water under pressure enters the expansion tank and any surging is damped by a flexible membrane arrangement within the tank. The water flow leaving the expansion tank is thus 'smoothed', minimising the spluttering and spitting at water taps and shower-heads that's not uncommon with water systems that employ a diaphragm water-pump. Because of the way an expansion tank functions there must be two water connections - an inlet and an outlet - you can't just have an inlet. The A20 is designed for universal use and is therefore an ideal addition to our Shurflo Trail King water pumps, previous models and all other types of pressure switch pumps. The Fiamma A20 Universal Expansion Tank is small and compact, not much bigger than a 750ml bottle of water. Extend the life of your pump and cut water consumption with theFiamma A20 universal expansion tank

The accumulator may be placed anywhere in the pressurized side of the plumbing. The ports are non-directional in flow and do not have to be plumbed in line (one side can be plugged). SHURflo’s Accumulator Tank smoothes water faucet pulsations and reduces pump cycling to keep water line pressure up and pump motors cool. The SHURflo® accumulator tank reduces plumbing system noise, increases the life of your pump and saves battery power. The Shurflo Accumulator Tank is a bladder type pressure storage vessel and pulsation-dampening device designed to hold water under pressure. The accumulator tank provides additional water storage to assist the pump in meeting the total demands of the system. It extends pressure switch-controlled pump life by reducing pump on-off pulsation. The accumulator is designed to reduce cycling pulsation and pressure spikes, increase the life of your pump and even save battery power. The Shurflo accumulator easily handles pressure requirements from 20 PSI to 125 PSI.For the latest information and advice on COVID-19, please refer to the latest updates by the UK Government. Models with 1/2-14 ports: Insert the rubber washers in each port. Threaded fittings (plastic/nylon only) should be torqued approximately 1/2 to 1 turn after hand-tightened. Never exceed 6 ft/lbs [88 Nm] of torque on the ports. Plumb the system using high pressure (2x pump rating), braided, flexible tubing to minimize vibration/noise. I think one needs to be a bit careful with "nothing to do with", as there should be an interrelationship between accumulator pre-charge and the cut in setting of the pump's pressure switch. It is supplied with straight and angled 13mm flexible hose connectors and self-tapping screws for fitting. Precharged at 0.9 bars (13 Psi) the Fiamma A20 can be charged with its special valve by a normal compressor so it can be adapted to all pressure switch pumps that are on the market. Installation Guide

Shurflow accumulator tanks reduce cycling pulsation and pressure spikes, increase the life of your pump and even save battery power. NSF certified. Nylon Tank. Dimensions: 230 x 100mm. Maximum PSI: 125 Our collections by our couriers are happening as usual. As it stands, delivery times are not being affected too much. Please be aware though that Royal Mail and other couriers are sometimes prioritising essential items so please bear with us if your delivery takes slightly longer than expected. The accumulator contributes to longer pump life, less noise, less amperage draw, and reduced water pulsation. The most efficient use of the accumulator occurs with the pre-charge set at the same pressure as the pump’s pressure switch “turn on” setting. The pre-charge must be set in a “static” condition (pump off and at least one water fixture opened). An ideal freshwater accessory to use with your pressure switch controlled pump for use on caravans and motorhomes. The pulsating water flow generated by pressure switched water pumps is replaced by a constant flow of water when you install a Fiamma A20 Universal Expansion Tank. Your water pump draws water from your water tank then pumps that water through the expansion tank. The internal pressurised diaphragm in the expansion tank eliminates any pulsating water flow and ensures a smooth, continuous flow instead, in the quantity required for showering or running a tap. Shurflo Accumulator Tank

SHURflo’s Pre-Pressurized Accumulator Tank smoothes water faucet pulsations and reduces pump cycling to keep water line pressure up and pump motors cool. The SHURflo® accumulator tank reduces plumbing system noise, increases the life of your pump and saves battery power. Coupler fitting is included. I think there is some confusion here, cut in and cut out pressures are controlled by pressure switch, they have nothing to do with accumulator settings. An accumulator is there purely to stop rapid cycling by delaying the drop, and rise, in pressure Shurflow pre-pressurized accumulator tanks reduce cycling pulsation and pressure spikes, increase the life of your pump and even save battery power. NSF certified. Precharge to 20 psi. 24 oz. Nylon Tank. Dimensions: 230 x 100mm. Maximum PSI: 125 Fitting an expansion tank is simple enough in principle, but can be a real challenge if space is tight. All the expansion tanks I know of seem to require fitting in an upright position. There may also be a need to adapt the tank's water-connections if they don't match the type of water system used on the leisure vehicle. For example, Fiamma's A20 expansion tank is designed to connect to a traditional system using flexible water hoses and Jubilee-clips. Adaptation would be required to connect an A20 to a system using semi-rigid water pipework and push-fit connectors. It seems to be generally agreed that your accumulator needs to be pre-charged to a few psi below the cut-in pressure of the pump for things to work in an optimal way. (E.g. pump with cut-out at 30 psi, and cut-in at 20 psi - set accumulator pre-charge to say 17 psi)

The little problem, which is more annoying than a problem is the sound from the pump. When any tap is used we get "water hammering"...this goes on for maybe 5/6 secs when the tap is closed. I had a look at the pump t'other week and I noticed this "schrader type valve"....so does the system need a foot pump to take it to 20psi??? The universal expansion tank also saves on water and electricity, increasing the pump performance and prolonging the life of the pump, all for an outlay of around half the price of the pump. The tank builds up a head of water which under pressure comes out in a steady stream due to the internal pressurized diaphragm providing a smooth, surge-free continuous flow. The A20 can be dismantled for diaphragm operations if necessary. Can be adapted to a multitude of pressure switch pumpsThere are quite a few 'surge damping' expansion tanks on the market. These vary in size, complexity and cost, but they all have two water connections and they are all fitted "in line". I fitted the Whale product to my previous Herald motorhome in an attempt to cure spitting at the water-taps. However, I can't comment on its effectiveness as the problem turned out to be due to an air leak where the water pipework connected to the fresh-water tank.

When I first see this valve I must admit I thought it was to drain any air in the system out. ..help. Yes, you can continue to return items as normal as long as you follow the government guidelines about leaving your house. We've had our Swift Challenger for a couple of months now. ..we've had a few weekend away getting to know her. Now we're off this Thursday for two weeks. ..first in Yorkshire, 2nd week in Scotland and I would like to find an answer to a little problem. I had forgotten about Whale's 'surge damper' that does have a single connection to the water pipework. It is designed to link to Whale semi-rigid pipework using a 15mm push-fit connector. For other types of pipework, adapters would be necessary. Because of its small size and the way it works it won't be as effective as 'accumulator' expansion tanks like Fiamma's A20. See: Can be mounted in any position. However, for complete sanitizing/winterizing, the recommended mounting position is with pre-charge valve stem up. Do not freeze or mount near a high heat source.Don't know what your capped stub-hose is for. It's possible that a semi-standardised water-system is used by Challenger and the connection with the hose that leads nowhere on your Genesis 34+ would, on a Challeger motorhome model with an alternative interior layout to yours, have a hose leading to a differently-located water outlet. Alternatively, it might be intended for an optional (cold-water?) outside shower-point.
