Information and statements about products are not intended to be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. Furthermore, the warning we use extends to cover ‘other’ tree nuts namely hazelnuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, pistachio nuts and Macadamia (or Queensland nuts). They've been making the trifle bake wells for a while, but how on earth do you transform fruit, jelly, sponge, custard and cream into a cake slice? Please note our products may be near or past their best before date, please check our About page for further information .With that being said, I expect you are wondering why we cannot just stop using palm oil – sustainable or not. Whilst we strictly control the use and segregation of these nuts within our bakeries, we still believe it appropriate to communicate the use of these nuts to our consumers. Please always check the label to ensure these remain suitable for your diet as recipes and manufacturing methods can change and the label will carry the most up to date information.

Though I think the packaging can sometimes leave a bit of a funny aftertaste, I have one exception to the "no cake slices" rule. Our knowledge of the supply chain and how these nuts are harvested, processed and traded means that these nuts may come into contact with other tree nuts – the risk will vary according to the country of origin, time of harvest, segregation and the like and could change during the year. To be honest, I couldn't really taste the sauce in the middle against the cake, but the resulting texture was fairly moist so I can't complain about it either.Kipling Cakes as we cannot guarantee the absence of nuts owing to our product range and manufacturing methods. There's something about trifle that makes me cringe a little, perhaps it's the sad Bird's mix one that's always hanging around on Boxing Day and beyond, gradually looking more and more worse for wear.

There’s a melt-in-the-mouth pastry case and light vanilla sponge with a layer of rich plum and raspberry jam, as usual. Now I felt a little let down by the slices -despite not knowing what to expect- but Bert really enjoyed them. I expected a milkshake flavour (like their milkshake cake slices) but it didn't really taste wither of the standard strawberry artificial flavour or of fresh fruit. In the event of any safety concerns or for any other information about a product please carefully read any instructions provided on the label or packaging and contact the manufacturer.
