One photo that particularly amused me is on page 276: It's the aftershow party following the final Ziggy gig and Bowie is sat with Mick Jagger. His sharp, often humorous text discusses the origins of the Ziggy Stardust stage persona, comments on Mick Rock's photographs, and gives unprecedented insight into Ziggy's stratospheric two-year career. The book is housed in a solander box bearing the clothing pattern on the outfit worn by David on the cover of his ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust’ album. Now, on the 50th anniversary of Bowie's acclaimed album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, the book is available again.

Ziggy Stardust blazed briefly but intensely, and I am delighted to see his life and times as a rock'n'roll star immortalised in this book. A woman has come over and is leaning into Bowie, cutting Jagger out of the conversation - if looks could kill. Along with the familiar images are some photo's that I have never seen before and with an entertaining narrative from Bowie Himself this is a feast of Sound and Vision. Moonage Daydream: The Life and Times of Ziggy Stardust is an incredible collection of over 600 photographs taken by Mick Rock with commentary throughout by Bowie himself. Mick first met Bowie before one of his early shows in Birmingham on March 17th 1972, he followed him back to London that night to interview him, it would the beginning of a lifetime of friendship.

These photographs trace the birth of one of the biggest, most influential pop ideas ever: the notion that a pop performer could, on record as well as on stage, reinvent himself creatively by inhabiting various personas. This chronicles Ziggy Stardust, not the story of Ziggy, but of the evolution and performances of David Bowie (and Mick Rock's photography skills). David Bowie's sharp, often humorous text discusses the origins of this fascinating stage persona, comments on Mick Rock's photographs, and overall gives unprecedented insight into Ziggy's stratospheric two-year career. This the blurb from the dustwrapper: "Moonage Daydream is the most complete detailed exploration of one of rock'n'roll's greatest creations: Ziggy Stardust.Rock's camera caught more of the Ziggy legend than any other and followed Bowie into hotel rooms and dressing rooms, on the road and socialising with musicians and friends including Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and Mick Jagger. In 1972 David Bowie released the instant classic The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars —a record without which any Greatest Albums of All Time list is simply incomplete.

I always keep this book with enthusiasm in my room : I love his beautiful cover some sepia and psychedelic, it offers the opportunity to follow the life of Ziggy Stardust and step in its constitution, in the beautiful and abundant pictures Mick Rock and almost timeless creative texts by David Bowie, as his album "The Rise and the Fall of Ziggy Stardust" reissued for the 30th anniversary of this title there a few years . Featuring more than 600 photographs from Mick Rock's vast archive, Moonage Daydream takes the reader from the early English Concerts where Ziggy and the Spiders from Mars made their names, to Ziggy's final swansong, the flamboyant 1980 Floor Show. Is really special best quality, I am a Queen fan as well and would wish Queen to have a book big as this and same kind of quality! We'd driven there in a Robin Reliant (I was a passenger - I still don't drive), a three wheeler, three of us, and we picked up a hitchhiker on the way.But original publisher Genesis Books — which specializes in such state-of-the-art photography books — is releasing a 20th anniversary edition of the book today (Oct. The trains themselves had such great names: Texas Chief, St Francisco Zephyr, Broadway Limited, The Wolverine, Abraham Lincoln, National Limited and many more. Most of his early costumes were designed by Freddie Burretti and later Kansai Yamamoto, his inspiration ranged from kabuki theatre, Japanese culture, his mentor Lindsay Lemp, to Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange.
