Ivor Danvers's roles in The Troubleshooters, Brett, Softly Softly, Angels, Juliet Bravo, Tenko, and Minder (Another Bride, Another Groom) are highly noticeable. Viewers were especially moved by his portrayal of the upright, honorable Gerald Urquhart after his avaricious wife Polly left the scene. All interiors were filmed in Studio A at the now-demolished BBC Pebble Mill studios in Edgbaston, Birmingham. Extensive two-storey sets were constructed inside the studio (the Howards and the Urquhart homes were both functioning two-floor sets). The smaller Studio B (used for regional news) was also occasionally used as an on-screen fashion photography studio. Other areas of the large 1970s TV and radio complex (opened in 1971) were used for the many board room scenes in the series, with long corridors and lifts sometimes doubling as a busy hospital and meeting rooms became lavish corporate hospitality suites. The show is rated PG for Parental Guidance in Australia and PG in New Zealand for violence and coarse language.

Inspired by a storyline in Howards' Way, Gerard Glaister went on to create Trainer (1991–1992), set in the world of horse-racing, and also featuring several of the same cast members. Central to the plot were three yachts - The Flying Fish, a Laser 28; Barracuda of Tarrant, the prototype of the Sadler Barracuda 45, and Spring of Tarrant, the prototype of the MG Spring 25. Both the Barracuda and Spring were designed by Tony Castro.I've never seen Howards Way, have tried to get round to it a few times but like Bergerac and Lovejoy, never got round to it. The series combined standard melodramatic storylines involving family drama, romance and extramarital affairs (Tom and Avril, Jan and Ken) with business-related plots of corporate intrigue and scheming for power, climaxing with an end-of-series cliffhanger.

Susan Gilmore has enjoyed a somewhat more measured and quiet career after already establishing herself as one of the more attractive fixtures of BBC Birmingham's hospital drama series Angels. Her curriculum vitae appears to suggest that she chooses her roles carefully before committing to a series or serial. Daniel Topolski and the actress previously wed, and they had three kids together. She is Colin Gilbert's sister and the offspring of James and Fiona Gilbert. As of right now, Susan has a quiet life and is not very active in the media.

Nigel Davenport, who was born in May 1928, has a mouthwatering array of credits on his resume that include roles in some of the most well-known and cherished British television productions, such as a 1956 adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo, The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Saint (The Charitable Countess and The Rhine Maiden), and The Avengers (The Danger Makers and Split!). I'm wondering how well it will have aged - it was very much of its time, especially the fashion. I seem to recall it being promoted as the British answer to Dallas or Dynasty Beyond Howards' Way, Willoughby Gray's most famous role may be as the insane scientist in Roger Moore's final James Bond movie, A View to a Kill. However, audiences may fondly recall him as the bushy-eared friend of Sir Edward Frere and a high-powered Tarrant banker. I've actually got the full 6 series box set on DVD somewhere but have still managed to be caught up by the reruns on Drama and the catchups on the UKTV play app ! Stupid I know I remember the acting being somewhat variable, especially from the children, Leo and Lynne, although Jan Harvey (Jan Howard) , Susan Gilmore (Avril Rolfe) and Tony Anholt (Charles Frere) as the baddy were most entertaining. Even so, it was excruciatingly hammy in places
