The system comes with a chunky instruction manual – but fear not, because only the first 22 pages are English.

Had mine since it first came out - seems like I may have damaged it by taking the aerial out while switched on but worse of all is totally messing it up due to Vista freaking out while attempting to update it. Next up was hiding the cable behind the dash, luckily there’s a gap between the base of the pillar that runs behind glovebox. According to Gary Richardson on BBC Radio 4 the Birdsong is now getting a higher audience than Oneword did.I felt pretty smug about the quality of my install – the fact that the wires are almost completely hidden behind the dashboard is a bonus.

This may be evidenced that Birdsong is now being broadcast at 160kbit/s in joint stereo - the same bit rate as Digital One's flagship stations, ClassicFM and Virgin Radio, and considerably higher than Planet Rock's 128kbit/s. jack soctet on instead, and my beesting is over 20cm long (which is key to the dab signal being receive properly? When financial news station Bloomberg, and rolling news station ITN News Radio ceased to broadcast within several months of one another in 2003, replacement audio services were never found due to a commitment in Digital One's broadcasting licence to provide a news station. Highway works with your existing audio system using the supplied line-out cable or by transmitting over an unused FM frequency. Arcam DV 137, Samsung BD-P1500, Arcam AVR 350 amp, PMC speakers (FB1+ fronts, TB2+ Centre, GB1+ rears), BK Monolith subwoofer, Sky HD.

The downside is the need for an extra cable to route, with wires needed for power, the aerial and aux out. Our other gripe is that the aerial is designed for fitment to left-hand drive cars and was a pain to install, requiring professional removal of the A-pillar trim. I can’t tell you if this feature is any good, because I tend to listen to Radio 5 Live, where music tends to be off the menu. Firstly, the antenna must be positioned as high as possible on the windscreen and at least 4cm from the side of the screen. Plugging everything in and testing with the supplied USB adapter the DAB radio came to life, appearing on the 207’s LCD display as playing via the CD changer.

I too would love to use the dab aerial that I currently have fitted rather than using a windscreen one. The buttons are a little small and tightly packed together, but the central dial makes it easy to switch between stations and songs. But some relatively young cars still didn’t have DAB fitted at the factory, and changing the entire stereo for an aftermarket system is expensive and could lose functionality from a built-in infotainment system. This DAB adapter is easy to install, but you can pay to get a professional from somewhere like Halfords to install one for you if you’re unsure about how to do it.The Highway name appears on the Laguna’s OEM display – at least it does when the car’s screen is functioning correctly – before being replaced by the name of the radio station. This resulted in a station playing a loop of birdsong and ambient sounds, entitled D1 Temp which broadcast for almost two years.

There are the usual DAB dead zones in rural Devon, but the Highway 400 seems to drop out earlier and reconnect later than the other systems. Consenting to these technologies will allow us to process data such as browsing behaviour or unique IDs on this site to create better content. The Laguna doesn’t have an aux-in socket, so the Highway system is broadcasting the DAB signal on 87. It sounds as though you’re listening to an MP3 or CD, all coming from a tiny antenna and equally diminutive controller is very impressive.Composing of a compact, stylish controller that can be fixed just about anywhere on your dashboard, and a discreet windscreen aerial and antenna, there’s never been an easier way to enjoy digital radio and music from your phone in your car. As said, if you have a phone, especially with an ulimited'ish data contract I'd try streaming off that, wouldn't be as convenient though. If you’re planning on keeping your car long term, or have a ‘forever car’ the Highway 200 can be permanently fitted, it just requires a bit more ingenuity. If anybody has this set up, it would be great if you could show us some pics to get an idea of where to put it.
