Although this re-design of the book was meant to make the story more interesting to children, I would not recommend sharing it with any. Units within a certain distance of a commander untit (depending on race) can then perform extra actions depending on their race. The Battle Bunnies received the new Age of Sigmar: Cities of Sigmar box for review, and our Bunny Rob set out to paint them for us in a nice Grim colour scheme. The book is presented as a sickly sweet kiddie book about a birthday bunny who wanders sadly around the forest, meeting various friends who don’t seem to care that it’s his birthday, until *surprise* they have a party for him and HEA. These are in the form of a blunt HB pencil and adorn the original illustrations as if scrawled upon by an angry young tyke.

Scieszka and Barnett tell the real story on top; both in written form, but also by creating the idea of a young naughty boy graffiting his own book. Alex has not only retitled the book "Battle Bunny," but has completely rewritten the story, scratching out words in the text to transform it from a sweet book about a sad bunny who thinks everyone's forgotten his birthday into an epic battle between a chainsaw-wielding bunny and a crow, a badger, a squirrel, and eventually Alex and the President of the United States. It had to be someone capable of drawing not just a mockery of ootsy-cutesy bunny tales, but also a realistic kid/stick drawing style. I don’t remember where I saw the recommendation for this book, but thank you, unknown book reviewer, for introducing me to this stinkin’ adorable, yet subversive, little children’s book. Short-listed for Colorado Children's Book Award (Picture Book) 2015 and Beehive Awards (Picture Book) 2016.I've seen some posts/comments saying it was a missed opportunity that Kalista didn't get a battle bunny skin, because she hops like a bunny or whatever. I wish I was teaching in a classroom because it would have been a book that I would have brought into the classroom to share with kids (yes, even my middle schoolers. and will likely be reminded of their own classic storybooks… not to mention the changes they wish they'd made (or perhaps did make) themselves, given the chance.

Birthday Bunny becomes Battle Bunny, and the rabbit's innocent journey through the forest morphs into a supersecret mission to unleash an evil plan--a plan that only Alex can stop. He has been writing books for so long (since 1989) that he doesn't even know how many are over there. It is the creative license that this book celebrates - the humour, the scribbles, the reinventing of a character .The game does have some bugs and balancing issues but the developer is actively updating, fixing issues and adding new things.
