About this deal

Once you have found exactly where the leak is coming from it should be a case of tightening the nut. Radiator valve tails screw into the bottom of radiator tappings; they connect radiators with the valves that control the flow of water through a unit. You could consider using a 1" Male X 3/4" Female iron reducer (or whatever is appropriate for the radiator tapping and valve sizes you have) between the radiator and valve.

Radiator Tails - Grip+™ Drive The Fast And Easy Way To Fit Radiator Tails - Grip+™ Drive

To install a new type of valve, you may need to change a tail – most likely with a hexagon-shaped valve key, a universal key, a double-ended key or a combination wrench key. If you have a radiator valve leaking when turned off, then you could try opening the valve slightly to see if it stops.BUT, measuring similar valves since taking those rads off to be sandblasted it looks like the rad-side fitting is 1 inch and I can't find anything with a 1 inch fitting. I first inserted the new radiator tails in the ends of the radiator dry to gauge how far it they would go when tightened up. Additionally, explore practical features such as smart heating options or dual-fuel towel radiators for bathrooms, so you can dry towels through the summer without having to turn the heating on. Sooner or later, people are recognizing the need of being eco-friendly and this has led to the rapid rise in the usage of Flat Panel radiators.

Radiator Tail Extensions - Trade Radiators

hopefully the radiators threaded spigot is not damaged by inserting the tail to far, they can split but that is rare. On removing the tail I then applied 6-7 wraps of Loctite 55 to the lower half to the radiator tail crossing the threads as I went, rather than following the thread grooves, as per the Loctite 55 instructions. As said above, enough wraps of PTFE wound in the right direction (see Madrab above) will seal yet enable the joint to be dismantled in the future. Someone would need a radiator tail extension when their radiator cannot attach securely to the pipework. That's why 15mm copper pipe is almost indistinguishable from imperial 1/2" copper pipe, and why 15mm pipe fittings can have a nominal 1/2" thread (which is actually about 3/4" dameter).I've never been in your situation, but I have seen a plumber using ls-x on both threads (radiator and tail) as well as the ptfe tape.
