About this deal

Narrated by Bird's character Will, the boys' holiday is marked with drugs, booze and sex, or so they had hoped. Done towards the end by Richard, when he mentions that he phoned his parents to come and pick him up after he had a panic attack. The award winning production aired for three seasons from 2008 to 2010 in Britain, and has been nominated at BAFTA and won accolades at the British Academy Television Awards and the British Comedy Awards. Wrong Genre Savvy: Lucy seems to know of the Romantic False Lead trope, but to her misfortune, she tries to resolve it like one would resolve it in a more sappy romantic movie. The four main characters from the sitcom go on holiday together to Malia, a seaside resort on the Greek island of Crete.

The opening of the film sees Simon being dumped by Carli, which gives Jay the idea that the group should leave their troubles behind and have a holiday full of drink, girls and many other things. It is meant to be the holiday of a life time, but in classic inbetweeners style not everything goes to plan. Out-of-Genre Experience: The scene of Will and Alison getting naked together is surprisingly intimate and played entirely seriously, the only scene in the entire franchise lacking any kind of comedic element. There is a decent storyline to keep the film ticking along and the glorious vulgarity of the TV series is well intact. He more or less latches on to Simon (Joe Thomas) who is relatively straightforward, and nearest to the "everyman" of the group. Never Trust a Trailer: The international marketing implies a lot more titillating content than actually appears; The American posters show the group on a beach next to implied nude women (see the picture at the top), the French DVD cover has the group staring at a woman wearing a Union Jack bikini and in Germany it was literally re-named 'Sex on the Beach'.

The film, like the series, is so close to the truth regarding being 17/18 and the rubbish you get up to that you can't help but be dragged into the world of Neil, Jay, Simon and Will. Although there are no real surprises, enough jokes land throughout the film's runtime to allow the predictable storyline to be overlooked. The addition of four new female characters brings a breath of fresh air to the film, as each actress is well-cast and complements her male counterpart admirably.I didn't find it bad by any means, and most of my feelings were based on my somewhat ignorance of British humor and lack of any knowledge of the TV program it's based on.

Everyone cheers as he jumps into the water only to stop cheering as he struggles to make it to shore, has to be rescued by emergency workers, is taken to the hospital, and shits himself.

And finally, one I didn't like up front, but really grew on me: Neil, the jolly chap who's probably the horniest, most positive and innocent of all. What a great film to watch to bring back all the happy times I had there, I just wish I could at least remember somebody's name? There's the nerdy but level-headed narrator Will (Simon Bird), selfish relationship-dependent Simon (Joe Thomas), compulsive liar and big-noter Jay (James Buckley) and lovable dimwit Neil (Blake Harrison).
