At some point he claims that if people can get into your house they can find all kinds of information that you have attached to your products (warranty information etc. This book provided some good information from that perspective, but mostly spoke from the direct perspective of really trying to disappear, which was random and thought-provoking. OMG – my heart is still pounding, my sphincter is still clenching and my breath is still ragged and I can’t express how much I loved this book, but as I am a blogger and you are here to read my reviews I will try….

How to Disappear is a quick run-through on the lengths people need to take to disappear from the radar. In How To Disappear the author creates the most unimaginative situation that you can’t help but imagine. A majority of these cases involved adults who walked away from their lives for one reason or another. From there on in this is pacy and addictively flowing and I simply couldn't put it down until I was done. I gave it four stars because it gives such excellent information in a pretty straightforward way - I mean, if you want to disappear in an age where everybody can hack in and find your information online, this is the book for you.

Ahearn does a good job of this, and even better, this book is fairly recent so it covers social media and the ever-increasing reach of our digital footprints. I felt like there were inconsistencies in character traits/descriptions (Zara in particular) that made me struggle to identify and get with them. I’ve never even seen the state of Oklahoma, despite what this convincing but completely fake ID says. The author does a great job getting you to understand just how easy it is to find out information on people (including you) and within the first few chapters you'll be able to find more info online about yourself than you probably want out there. So this happens in the first few chapters and the next 25 chapters (or 2/3 of the book) we hear the constant negative thoughts of the mother and the daughter of how tough it is to be uprooted and moved and forget everyone and everything that used to be your life before. After choosing to see the writing style as entertaining and not a distraction, the book was mildly interesting. This gripping page turner really made me care for the characters and the awful situation they now find themselves in, I was completely hooked throughout. Lauren’s daughter Zara witnesses a terrible crime and after giving evidence her identity is revealed on line bringing a threat to her life. Less a concrete how-to guide than a set of issues to think about for anyone who does want to pull the vanishing trick.

Unable to put down, heart pounding and gripping’ are phrases that so perfectly describe this brilliant thriller - yet it also had an incredibly emotional and heartbreaking love story at its core. Got so drunk, she didn’t even notice when her license was stolen right out of her bag nineteen years later. I was not expecting the final chapters to be as explosive, powerful and shocking as they were but it was a great way to round off an exciting, incisive, thought-provoking and highly entertaining read. So, Zara goes into Witness protection with her mother leaving her family, her friends and her school and everything she knows. How to Disappear overturns the dangerous modern assumption that somehow fame and visibility equate to success and happiness.

Furthermore there's some parts like: don't use Facebook to keep in touch with old friends, send a letter. This is a compulsive thriller, although you will have to suspend your sense of disbelief on occasions, otherwise a rollicking good read that will have you turning the pages as fast as possible.
