About this deal

Seafood, for example, goes particularly well with this ice-cold serve: salmon tartare or a super fresh ceviche would make for a sensational experience that will enlighten your taste buds. This is the reason that, even though they only produce 40,000 cases (12 bottles per case) a year, they own 120 hectares of vineyards. It’s a blend of around 20 different eau-de-vie, all distilled from Petite and Grande Champagne grapes.

Arriving in a bright golden straw yellow hue, this Armagnac is a great introduction to a type of brandy you might not have thought to try before. This cognac offers generous notes of plum and fig marmalade as well as intense oaky notes of toffee and toasted bread - the perfect blend of sweet and woody. It can be overwhelming to smoke a spicy cigar and then challenge your palate even more by pairing it with a high-alcohol, woody and tannic beverage. The resulting juice is then double-distilled in a copper pot still, which creates a young spirit known as eau de vie (translation: “water of life”). Nowhere is that more evident than with the Broderies Range, which consists of single-estate blends produced from the label’s own vineyards. A tasting of our cognacs, exclusively from the region’s first two growths, the Grande and Petite Champagne, will conclude the journey to awaken your senses.

It's crafted from a mix of Grande and Petite Champagne cognacs, arriving in the iconic slender neck bottle that'll certainly impress your guests. It gives a very mellow flavour with a nice smooth after taste - again, a good option if you're just getting into brandy and don't want to be put off by a taste that's too powerful and overwhelming.Their expertise ensures that the original, delicate flavour from the grapes persists through the distilling, ageing and blending process. VS (Very Special) – The most common form of cognac, which has been aged for the mandatory minimum of two years. VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale)– The youngest vintage in the blend has been aged for at least four years. This is conveniently forgetting that roughly two-thirds of the Cognac consumed on the planet is from the VS (Very Special) and VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) classifications. Since 1763, the acclaimed brand has been turning grapes into greatness by way of abundant resources and expert production techniques.

A little more on the Napoleon connection: after visiting the distillery in 1811, he reportedly began dispensing this particular spirit to his troops during the Napoleonic Wars. The color of the precious liquid is an intriguing gorgeously shimmering dark golden brown, with a hint of mahogany reflections.

There's also Armenian brandy, South African brandy, Cypriot brandy, Italian Pomace brandy – or Grappa – the list goes on.

With more than 40 Eaux de vies (unaged brandy) included from the four main growing regions, it’s known for its fruity, caramel, and vanilla flavour. Just purchased the Hine Rare from here, which I found being a little more oily, left the flavour on the finish lingering, and very pleasant it was. The Hine Rare VSOP was awarded gold medals in 2003 and 2007, and given 93 out of a possible 100 points by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. With its black panther-adorned bottle Meukow VS which offers an oaky, fruity, vanilla flavour, it’s the place to start your journey. Since my first bottle of Hine Rare,I have tried Courvoisier, Frapin, Hennessy, Maxime Trijol, amongst others.Hine Rare VSOP is made using only the best of the best, employing grapes from the finest Cognac crus.
