About this deal

Luhrmann is Australian and he and a few others talk about how Australia and Los Angeles were used as the locations for the film. Unlike the 4K picture, this 1080p image has some mild banding, video noise, and black crushed black levels at times. reasonably accurate portrayal of what you'll see on a properly calibrated setup -- and if you're upscaling to 4K, it may prove to be more impressive still. At the peak of his powers in the recording industry and selling out movie houses, Elvis was in his prime for Blue Hawaii.

Home Entertainment's Elvis (2022) topped the Blu-ray only and overall packaged media charts, pushing Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Minions: The Rise of Gru to second place on both charts. All and all, “Elvis” [2022] on 4K UHD Blu-ray earns itself a perfect 5 rating for audio quality with an Atmos mix that certainly performed absolutely exquisitely for this type of film. But kudos to Luhrmann for doing something creative and original with this biopic that nobody saw coming - telling the hero's story from the villain's eye line. It’s a fine catchy and silly tune, but it’s one weird way to kick off a musical comedy when you can barely see the star around a faux convertible in front of a rear-projected Hawaiian highway. Denon's mid-range AVR-X4300H does the lot including 4K, HDR, immersive audio and even multiroom thanks to HEOS. But of course, with Luhrmann and his wife's costume design, the sets and costumes are simply gorgeous to look at. There weren’t a lot of creative liberties taken here, and that’s either the film’s strongest asset or its weakest link. First off, I must state that the Dolby Atmos mix here on 4K UHD Blu-ray (via physical media) packs a much stronger punch here than what I heard (via streaming) on HBOMax.

The epitome of the 60s “Beach Flick” the film could be easily dismissed if it wasn’t for The King doing what he does best alongside a terrific cast including Angela Lansbury as his mom! At nearly two hours, forty minutes, many will be compelled to compare the film’s bloated runtime to the singer’s late-career physique. We tune in to conversations that must remain audible over the raucous soundtrack and, for the most part, dialogue is perfectly clear and mimics real-life conversations that might take place in noisy music halls. The same goes for his Elvispicture, however, Luhrmann once again takes an unconventional approach to tell this tragic tale of Elvis's life and career.Neibaur is very interesting, but he also pretty much just reads from a script rather than any kind of scene-specific track or anecdote. This ultimately led to his turmoil in marriage, his addiction to drugs, and lastly his untimely, sad death. Like so many of the movies starring Elvis Presley, Blue Hawaii won’t be mistaken as one of the greatest cinematic achievements of any generation. Surround usage is nicely drawn, coming alive for the performances, with the ambience of the crowd and the various stages spread around and above the listener. Nicely digging into his musical heritage, it just captures the musical aspects perfectly and Luhrmann rightly never lets us forget it.

Luhrmann's way of showcasing the big events in Elvis's life from discovering music, to gospel, and playing with some of the biggest names in music like Big Mama Thorton, Little Richard, and B. I know I’d seen it before but it’s been so long that I scarcely remember it beyond the iconic Can't Help Falling In Love scene. The nightclubs have their nuanced moldy colors while the inside of a tour bus and luxurious hotel has bright bubble gum colors that just leap off-screen. We reviewed this Region free UK Ultra HD Blu-ray release on a JVC-DLA N5 Ultra HD 4K projector and a Panasonic DP-UB9000 Dolby Vision/HDR10 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Now, about that title: Elvis isn’t really a biopic about the legendary singer and his meteoric rise to fame.Baz is best known for directing mostly extravagant musical-focused films such as “Strictly Ballroom” (1992), “Romeo + Juliet” (1996), “Moulin Rouge! Aiming to become the preeminent tour guide of Hawaii, Chad and Maili take on an eclectic set of first clients: the strict schoolmarm Abigail Prentice (Nancy Walters) and her four beautiful teenage students. Rock ‘N Roll Royalty: The Music and Artists Behind Elvis– Most the same gang from the above (and below) featurettes discuss the signature style of the King of Rock N’ Roll. This sound mix is just massive and really pulls you right into the story as well as most obviously the unforgettable musical experience.
