About this deal

A Scottish singer will launch his album at an intimate venue in Glasgow, with two full-band performances at the Radisson RED Sky Bar. The ability to comment on our stories is a privilege, not a right, however, and that privilege may be withdrawn if it is abused or misused.

On 26 June 2020 Beattie released his first music video for the song " Salamander Street", about a former classmate who became a prostitute in Edinburgh. He said: “I love the venue – it’s really something special – and we have had some great times at Radisson RED.I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the album release – hanging out with fans, playing old favourites and new stuff from the album and just having a party in this beautiful room overlooking Glasgow.

There have been times in my life where I thought getting music into the market was completely beyond me, so to have come this far on such an incredible journey is something I have gratitude for every single day. So when we wanted to put on something really cool for fans, it was the first place we thought of – and luckily they jumped at the idea. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. In the second half, manager Alex McLeish selected Beattie to play on the field alongside Rangers and rest of the world legends. These adverts enable local businesses to get in front of their target audience – the local community. It’s almost impossible to maintain the self-belief that you can achieve anything but, somehow, with Dave’s help, I’ve managed to keep at it, and this album is really the ultimate reward for that perseverance. The whole idea was to keep it small, intimate, so the RED Sky Bar is perfect – and we are doing two performances so 300 fans will get to be part of it overall.

He’s dropped by for an impromptu song or two a few times in the past but we are really pleased he wants to celebrate such a huge occasion with us. In 2019, he uploaded the anti- Brexit and Conservative Party song "Boris Song" onto YouTube, becoming viral. I grew up in a post Thatcher Britain, in a fairly rough part of Scotland, raised by my dad, and experienced the poverty and roughness of those times first hand,” he comments. The 33-year-old has attracted a growing number of fans due to his knack for writing heartfelt lyrics. The artwork utilises a photograph by Gavin Watson, whose images of Thatcher-era Britain capture a fragmented nation. His mix of folk, rock, pop and indie has won him many fans and his recent single 'What It Means' earned itself a place on the BBC Radio 2 playlist. In May 2020 Beattie was interviewed by Robin Galloway on Pure Radio about his pride in the Scottish sound of the album, saying that his "heart will always lie back home".
