The Edifier has very balanced highs and mids, each offering a fairly flat response. Rather than be a detriment, these flat responses make them ideal for producers, as they are able to use their monitors to listen to music without worrying about sound coloration altering what’s actually being heard. When compared to its amazing sound quality, beautiful design, innovative tuning features, and full-range frequency response, all while in a compact 4-inch space, citing a couple of add-ons as anything more than add-ons becomes kind of silly. The Edifier R1280T and R1280DB are among the company’s best-selling bookshelf speakers. Both models have top-notch audio quality and excellent features, making them worth purchasing. The RMS is powered by 60W and allows the speaker to reach loud volumes around the 100dB mark before distortion becomes noticeable.
The R1280DBs has a compact design for bookshelf speakers, making it ideally suited for use in a desktop setting. It doesn't look too big next to my 27-inch Xiaomi gaming monitor, and the Niffler seems to like it, so that's something.Each bookshelf speaker is fitted with a 4-inch woofer dedicated to the low-end frequencies. The bass sounds natural with no boominess to distract you from enjoying your music. Additionally, the unit provides up to 42 watts RMS (21 watts each) for room-filling and undistorted sound. The main selling point of these classic bookshelf speakers is the inbuilt Bluetooth connectivity. This function allows you to enjoy a wireless operation while making it easy to stream music from enabled devices. Instead, it can give us a perfect sense of hearing and ensure the performance of various frequency bands. That seems to be enough for entry-level 2.0 speakers. However, it can be honestly said that many other entry-level 2.0 speakers have not yet met this requirement. Compared with other modest audio upgrade solutions for a TV, you get far more depth and volume here than with basic all-in-one soundbars. However, it will depend on what you’re after. If you just want a smidge more depth and volume – but no rumbling bottom end that will disturb the neighbours – the soundbar approach may be preferable.

The angular cabinet shape and included removable grills allow for flexible positioning either horizontally or vertically, but vertically is recommended for the best performance. That said, nobody wants to reach behind their media consoles to disconnect and reconnect things everytime they switch devices. Factor in the remote, which has a separate button for the RCA inputs and another for the optical and coaxial inputs, and you never have to get up from your comfy couch again. Overall, whether you do feel the need to tweak the EQ a little, the key thing is that these speakers have the range to provide the option. It’s this versatility that makes them so appealing.
The Edifier R1280DB lives up to its name and then some. If there was anything to talk up with praise, it’s these monitors and their beautiful design. The design and build quality of the speakers are similar, and if we compare the dimensions of the two, there is no difference in the length, depth, and height as well. For a 4″ driver, the R1700BT woofer can provide a respectable bass output for a bookshelf speaker, even if it only goes down to about 60Hz.
Looking beyond the speaker’s physical look and build, the Edifier R1280DB has got some really impressive sound coming out of its small frame. Just as is the case with the highs and mids, the R1280DB has some pretty impressive lows. They are quite well-balanced, especially considering the fact that they are 4-inch woofers. The mid-frequency part of the Edifier R1280DB is relatively delicate. Therefore, it does not show the vocals in the mid-frequency part with a substantial degree of solidity like many traditional 2.0 speakers.

Generally, the way it works is that the right speakers for you aren’t cheap and the cheap ones aren’t good. The Edifier R1850DB delivers subtle but noticeable improvements over the R1700BT, mainly due to the extra power and the slightly larger size.
In fact, not only are there very few entry-level monitors that can stand in the same room as the R1280DB, but only the high-end monitors objectively beat it in terms of overall quality. The Highs & Mids First off, these 1280DB speakers deliver a truly satisfying and enjoyable listening experience. The bass sounds natural, the low mids are rich and punchy, the highs are sharp, and most importantly, the mids are lucid and detailed.For an optimal listening experience, you’ll need to pair your bookshelf speaker with a good subwoofer.
